Me too!! I got a slight scratch from an old piece of sh*t Crown Vic, but I was able to wax it out. Had three other ones that I waxed out as well, but have a 2-3 inch faint scratch on the passengers side near the trunk, but it faded a bit when I waxed it (Zymol)! I'm looking to go back to the dealership on Thursday to get it taken car of. I love that car too much to keep any mark in it. And yes, I also do park from in general, and as far from the parking blocks as I can.

I did not wash my Civic for almost a year. Every time I detailed it, it got vandalized. I just left it dirty and it was not messed with. The dirt protected the car. Nothing like detailing a car and having someone hawk a nasty ___ Lugi on your car.

I think the reason why the rims got scratched from the curb is cuz these damn tires...
I looked at where the rim and the tire went over the curb, the tire actually
got ripped! and i also felt the tire's sidewall (the ripped part) and it's so damn
soft...i would never buy these potenza re92's again...now i need new rims AND tires

maybe cuz it was a civic

there was a volvo xC in cape cod that i saw... the guy went out of his way to put BUBBLE WRAP around the whole side so as to avoid dings. what some people would do to protect their car...

Default How long did it take you to ding?

I've only had it 10 days and I had a curb hit that cut thru the tire but it's still attached. Today when I started to wash my car, some A**hole let a fence slam into the front fender. It seem like they actually cut into me. I want to ride a round with bubble wrap all over it!!!!!
ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

looking to get a few of these to shield myself http://shop.store.yahoo.com/rodi/pasmmadogu.html

You know I too have been super cautious to park far away and avoid spaces that give people an excuse to ding me. However, it never fails that I come out and in a row full of empty spaces, some @#$ decides to park next to me.

Uhh, why in the hell are we complaining about "how weak and fragile the rims are"?? You're not supposed to hit curbs with them. And in case you haven't looked at the tires, yeah they're soft, the treadwear rating is only 160 (good for about 12,000-15,000 miles at best). What do you expect? Stay ON THE ROAD with your car and you won't have problems. And the comment about "it's just a Scion, they make more every day"... this is true, however, it's someone else's property you're talking about. Come back and say that when you pay the person's car payment. It's not hard to be careful and pay attention to what you're doing, especially when it's something as simple as opening a damn car door. The first person to ding my door will get much more than just an earful. I go out of my way to avoid doing that to other people's cars, as well as having it happen to mine, and I expect each and every other driver out there to have that same respect. If you don't, then I'm going to ruin your day for sure.

last night a dear ran into the side of my car, I was surprised at how little damage there was since we felt the entire door push in. Theres only a small dent about 3 inches long and an inch wide, Its really only visible at the right angle but it ____es me off that it had to happen in the first place. Maybe ill get it fixed sooner or later.

The second week I had my car, I drove a couple of co-workers to lunch because they wanted to see my new car. When we get back to out parking garage I explain that I'm passing up empty spots because I'm trying to avoid getting door dings. I find a corner spot and pull in. My passenger says that I should pull out and reposition the car because there is plenty of room on her side. So I do it. I tell them that I know I'm being uptight, but I'd like to make my first car payment before I get my first ding. At that moment my passenger opens the door and connects with a concrete pillar that comes up a couple of feet from the ground.

The impact chips the pint on the lip of the door panel (it barely made contact) and, more disturbingly, causes a three four inch vertical crease in the door about an inch-and-a-half from the door edge. She almost cried she felt so bad. While I was upset, I told her everything was fine and wnet into my office and sulked the rest of the day.

The story has a happy ending. I called a local dent repair guy who makes house calls and less than a week later the dent is gone (it took him an hour to do the work). I paid $50 and felt it was worth every penny. My co-worker tried to pay for repair but I wouldn't let her. She kept insisting and I finally told her that she could buy me something for the car instead. I installed my OBX shift **** today. Maybe I can get her to dent the bumper and get a supercharger?
