Yep, I saw it.

Try driving through Hollywood around 4 p.m. I was near the intersection of Hollywood & Highland when the clock struck 4, parking enforcement gave the signal and I saw cars on their way to impound in less time than it took the traffic lights to cycle. Alarms, wheels turned inward or outward, parking brakes, it didn't matter... they were gone in under 3 minutes.

My condo's association has a stupid rule (amongst other associations here). If you park your car here in front of your house overnight (between the hours of midnight and 6am) for more than 3 days in a 7 day period, your car gets towed... from in front of your own house!

I had a friends staying with me for a while, so we would switch spots (carport, and guest parking - my garage is uh... um... full).

One night I went to bed at 4am, and as I was falling asleep I heard a very very faint noise outside my window. So I looked out, and it was the tow truck backing up to take my car!!!

So I jumped out of bed, grabbed my car key, started my car (with the remote start), and ran downstairs with my maglite (now, this is no ordinary maglite, this is a 6 D-cell battery maglite!) wearing nothing but boxers, and I scared the sh*t out of those guys! I really gave it to them, and they were freaked out because they were trying to be sneaky (and my car is loud when it idles - thank you flowmaster 40 series!).

Damn f*ckers trying to take my sh*t! I have much more crazy tow stories too (like trying to steal my friends car back from the tow yard, and then almost getting into a fight there! But I'll save that for another time. (This post is long enough!)

I still say a gun and key alert is the best protection ever made.and maybe LoJack had my Golf stolen (my 1st ever car) and bam it was back in before it made it to TJ. Also remember to lock your car.

How about a motion sensor sending the sensors coordinates to your phone or base unit based upon location of your base unit, so it basically calls your phone and goes
HEY! IM NORTHWEST etc. OF YOUR LOCATION AND MOVING WITHOUT YOUR KEY IN ME GET YOUR GUN AND PREPARE VENGEANCE!!

It would be an amazing l'il gadget. and I believe car theft would drop drastically, while upping the violence rate but hey we gotta protect our babies.

GAYNESS, My story is that some guys were trying to open my car with a kit thing and when I yelled at them outside my work they took off and shot at me and my car with a bb gun.
They hit my hat, and my passenger door. Now I have to fill the small dent and paint the door. Felt like running after them but they were fast and had the gun.

So how much does it cost to fill a dent and paint a SSM tC door??

Doesn't matter which direction you park or if they even use dollies. They can lift one end of the car, drag its @$$, tires squealing out of the spot, whip around on the other side and hook up.
A good driver can do this in a couple of minutes easy. I have seen a full size, dual wheeled Chevy pickup yanked out this way with the brakes locked. They would have zero trouble with our car.

I dont know, but I bet I could have take a couple of bb shots to get to them and shove that bb gun up thier @$$ ! dumb @$$es are too stupid to realize that many people own and occassionally carry REAL guns. And if you have a carry permit, the minute they pointed that gun at you, they could have had a chest full of rounds... perfectly legally since you could have thought it was a reall gun :D Hopefully someone WILL end up shooting them one day. I dont need my air wasted by trash like that.

^ be careful with that. my friend got pulled over, got his hood popped. they found a turbo. then they sat him down and searched the car. Found a switch blade in the glove compartment.

Had to go pick him up from Jail!

i carry a lug nut wrench under my passenger seat...i might need it

but about your car getting stolen...really you can't do anything to stop it. just like you can't do anything to stop vandalism...unless you hire a private gaurd to watch your car 24 hrs a day.

You know it's funny how you mentioned that because I too live in a condo and our association is really strict with parking. They only allow 2 parking permits per household. The first car has it's own port, the second car can park on the street. No owner can park on any visitor spots and if caught, their car will be towed.

Well the situation in my neighborhood and I speak on behalf on alot of my neighbors, many of us have 3 or more cars so the third car, CANNOT PARK in the neighborhood! That's right ladies and gentlemen, we have to park OUTSIDE of our neighborhood, and not on the main street (because you will get a ticket for parking on a bike lane area) but across the street on a hill!!

When I used to have my Tacoma, I parked my truck on "that" hill and guess what happened? It was broken into!! They friggin opened the sliding rear window on the back!! But guess what, I don't keep Sh*t in my car so they got away with nothing. haha idiots.

So now my dilemma is, since I dont wanna park across the street outside my neighborhood, I park on visitors so I have yet to get caught. But im moving out in a month so it don't matter.

But one thing I have to say with those tow truck guys, they're good. They can take away any car, backward, or normal even if your car is in between two cars, they'll find a way to do it.

Other than that, I have an autolock, I lock my steering wheel, and I have an alarm. =)
