Default Anyone Having Issues With Their Keys?

Hey peoples, is anyone else having issues with their keys??

Sometimes my "unlock" and "lock" buttons will not work and ive already changed the battery to try and fix it. Sometimes its just completely random. Speaking of which do your guys keys run out of battery quick? Ive only had my Tc for about a year now and ive had to change the battery three times already. Never dropped the keys on the floor or anything.

Also, is your "unlock" button very very sensitive? I will sometimes accidentally barely tap on the unlock key and it will unlock. So what I have to do is, lock my car, walk away about 20 feet with my keys in my hand (so that i dont accidently hit the unlock key) and then put my keys in my bag.

Comments Appreciated

I can't say I know whawt's wrong with your key, but I've been using one of my two main keys (the non-valet key) for over 2 years, and I've never had an issue with it or had to replace a battery.

Do you have any problems with your other main key?

Let us know if you find out what's wrong.

haven't had any issues with my key.. i use it alot and it's been over a year.. no need to change batteries.

nothing about it being sensitive either.... but do realize for security concerns... even if you hit the unlock button accidentally.. as long as no one opens the door or hatch within 30 seconds... the car will lock itself.

also.. depending on where you operate the remote, certain areas may have jamming signals on occasion and will not allow you to use your remote.... i've experienced that a few times at my former work before and always had to lock the car manually.

I had the same problem with mine, though I had a bad battery so I replaced it and still didn't work, so the next time I went to the dealer for my oil change I mentioned it to the tech. all they had to do was reprogram the remote at no charge....under warranty!

Yup, your key probably needs reprogramming. Happens all the time with Ford. Im not sure if Toyota is the same, but with Ford if you reprogram one key you have to reprogram all of them. If you don't and use another key it will kick the program out and none of the keys will work.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions, i switched out to my other main key and it works alot better. Didnt know that my car would automatically lock itself after 30 seconds. Next time i go to the dealership ill definetley ask em about it and to get it reporgrammed.

well.. considering where i used to work..... it's no big surprise... but until one of my former co-workers told me about it.. i was really, really confused why some mornings my key remote didn't work.
