you can see where the clips plugs in and also where the nut for the ground wire is right next to it.

i just put the key in the ON position, jumped that, it shot some sparks and the car fired right up.

Uh.........

Having problems with terms, maybe. "Clips?"

The schematic (admittedly for a 2007) only shows two big wires to the starter (red and black/red-stripe), and implies the ground is via being bolted to the block...

If it is different from the schematic, I apologize, but I have no schematic for an '08.

Toyota/Scion Tech here...... if you dont have that problem fixed let me know i might be able to scrounge up some info on this problem for you. I'll ask my master tech on my team about this situation you have tomorrow. I'll check this at my lunch break to see if you have it fixed or not

ehh nvm, all problems fixed!
seems it might have been the 7.5 fuse (the brown one) it was blown but you couldnt tell, so we replaced it with another one, turns out that one was blown too and you couldnt tell.

(Sorry about the pic and link vanishing earlier - the server farm that my servers are in was having problems earlier today. Should be better now.)
Digdug done died
Posted (February 18th, 2009 at 3:39 pm PST) by Leon

3:39 pm PST: Unfortunately, digdug is not coming back from several reboot attempts so we’re moving it to new hardware. Should be back in about an hour!

Update 6pm: Ugh, there’s been many issues with hardware that we’ve tried to move digdug over to. We’re still working on it and hoping to get it back up within another hour.

Update: 6:42pm: Okay, digdug is back up. Terribly sorry for that long downtime! If you’re still having issues, please contact your friendly DH support robot.

Glad you found what was wrong. Electrical issues are always the worst to diagnose.

phew, had a little scare.
i went out for my nightly cruise around town after i left my buddies house.
shortly after the car died, but started right back up, then died again, took a little longer to start, then died again and wouldnt start at all.
so i check all the fuses under the hood...still good.
then a cop pulls up and starts questioning me about my car and why its gutted, yadda yadda yadda.
he kept insisting that i call a tow truck and i had to keep telling him id only been there for like 2 mins before he pulled up and told him to just give me some time cuz ill figure it out.

well the car fired up eventually so i hoped in real fast and took off, got about 1 block...and it died again.

then i realized that i left the cover off of the fuse panel on the inside so i checked it out, everything looked fine but i pushed em all in just to be sure...sure enough the car started right up and hasnt stalled since, i drove it around my neighborhood like 3 times just in case anything happened again, it seemed fine, so i proceeded on my nightly cruise and now all seems well.

well i know how much everyone loves new threads...lol
so i decided to post in this one instead of making another new one.
im having more problems.
its only happened twice so far and both times werent similar at all so i havent been able to pinpoint exactly why.

basically, the electrical system just freaks outs, same symptoms only the first time the car died completely and the second time it didnt.

on my way to work i was going about 45 in 5th up a hill, all the sudden it sounds like my radio is skipping so i look down, the radios flashing like on and off, and alot of the lights on the dash are flickering, then i realize my power steering is gone and the car died. i put it in nuetral, threw on my flashers and coasted but i couldnt make it up the hill, so i tried to start it and it worked...made it to work fine after that.

the second time i was leaving work and was in 1st in the parking lot, it started freaking out again, all the same symptons, only this time it didnt die...

so wtf?
any ideas?
