Default Auto Armor Paint/Interior Protection

I just had this whole package done to my tC today and was wondering if anyone else had it done yet from their toyota dealer and if so does it really work? (i probably should've asked this before i got it done lol)

I know my car looks hella good and shiney right now lol.

how much did it cost? I've heard its just an overpriced wax job, come back and tell us what you think after a week or two.

There was also atleast one horror story about scotch guard leaving a white film on the interior...

we have it at our dealership...or at least something similar to it. I have sold many of them and no complaints. The best part about it is the 5 year warranty... it goes along well with the peace of mind you expect when getting a new car.

Did you actually pay for it? just wondering...

all i know is that "armor paint" is usually a wax coating... nothing really special about it. It'll fade with time and car washes... just like other waxes. As for interior..it's probably scotch gaurd...which you can buy at Pepboys and just spray onto the seats and carpet. I was tricked into buying such thing was back when I bought my first car ... now I know better.

It's just a another dealer scheme to raise the price of the vehicle and feed off more interest. But hell...if u're happy...that's priceless.

nice tC. I'm gonna take mine in for a nice wax this weekend... there's nothing like a shiny car.

What's included (in detail)? Or is it a trade secret?

Yes i did pay for it, I paid $400 for interior and exterior and the warranty on it is 7 years. I kinda wanted it because when it snows here and the salt gets on the road I really dont want it eating away at my car and besides that on my last car i had permanent water spots on my car that I couldnt get out for the life of me...

So i figured $400 isnt that bad because if the car looses its shine, gets messed up from sap or road salt and the interior fades or becomes stained then they bring back their contractor who will either replace my interior if it cant be cleaned or fix my paint if it gets messed up.

Filthy dealership tried to get that one by me too, but I caught it when flipping through the paper work. I noticed the $389.00 proguard treatment on a seperate document. They told me the treatment was already applied so they refused to remove it from the net price of the car. Well, let's just say I "reacted in an appropriate manner" and so they decided to absorb the cost of this useless option. The finance guy decided he made an "honest" mistake in adding this to the price without informing me about it. uh, yeah...

I used to do these when I worked as a detailer at a Jeep dealership. If they do it thoroughly, it does have a lasting effect. I always had little bits left and did several of my cars and my wife's (girlfriend at that time) and could tell the difference over time.

Personally, I'd never pay that kinda $ for it, but your really paying for the warranty. If you do get a stain and can't clean it, they'll do it. Like someone said, if it makes you feel better, then it's probably worth it, just don't be afraid to use it if you have a problem.

And it doesn't mean you don't need to wash your car and keep it clean either...

I got this done on my tC as well. At first I wasn't sure if it was a waste of money or not. One day I was washing my car and noticed some big drops of sap in the top of the car and on the hood. I was about to chisel them out but remembered I got the paint protection. Left it at the dealer for a few hours and the sap was removed. Now I have to take it in for some stuff in my bumber. Looks like scratches but I looked very closely and it is some kind of plastic crap on it. Looks like gum stretched out. Looks pretty nasty.
