Default Automatic tC short shifter

Has anyone seen or would be interested in creating a Shorter "throw" for the Automatic tC. Like make the shifter sit right about 2"-3" lower than the current automatic shifter does. Any input would be great!

here's a pic of the automatic

easiest and least expensive way is to cut it and weld it back together.

Welding? What about cutting it to length and re-threading it? Manual is a 125 x 12 die, I think. No buttons in the auto shifter, right? Mask it off so metal shavings don't go anywhere they shouldn't (Have a magnet for strays). Carfully cut and re-thread (don't forget the cutting fluid)
Oh...if you need to grip the shaft more tightly, you can use a small piece of hose, cut length wise, to wrap around it and put a vise grip on that.

Just a thought

my first post was a joke.

and i don't see anything wrong w/ someone wanting a short shifter for their auto. it's just a cosmetic mod just like a shift **** or an s2000 antenna. i don't think he expects to gain any performance enhancements from it.

To create a short shifter for the automatic would be more form over function. I think it would look much better than having it stick up so far abover my console. I am not trying to shift faster....just trying to make mine look better than yours....or at least different from.
right back atcha for no vision

'preciate the helpful responses.....photochop anyone?

I would like one too. It is purely aesthetic. Don't be such jackholes. Good god if you aren't all high and mighty.

Please master may I have a short shifter for my auto tC.

yeah.....I've noticed on some cars with automatic on the floor, the shifter is really short and it looks 1000x better.....that's all it's for......

I'd like a shorter one for the xB. The auto shifters in the xB's are real easy to hit or bump out of gear.

you're an ___........of course it has nothing to do with "having shorter throws"......it's just to make it look better.....so you don't have a shifter **** sitting on top of the eiffel tower in the middle of your car....

...man i hate retarded people......

Im teaching myself photoshop so I can do a mock up of what it might look like. I think it would be much nicer, esp. in the picture above, not to have my shift **** "..on top of the eiffel tower"

Im thinking about finding a shifter arm from the junk yard or buying one from the pts dept. b/c i dont want to have something that is irreversible. if anyone has a wrecked auto tC and its totalled, let me know ill purchase the arm from you.
