Default Backseat Wires

I lifted the carpet behind the back seats. There are red and black wires with electical tape on the ends. Also, a pair of RCA connections. Is this for an amp or subwoofer?

Did you buy the car used? I can't remember if the RS1's came with the factory sub or not. Even if they did, that means that yours isn't there, or somebody had an audio system in it.

Yes...bought it used. I don't see any other signs of speaker or amp installs.

Yep, that's likely the wiring to the factory subwoofer.

No, its not factory. Scion is not going to put electrical tape on the ends of wires and leave them under the seat. It was from an installed amp. You might be able to use it if you want to put an amp in, but I'd redo it all myself to be on the safe side...

The person who tore out the sub to sell on ebay HOPEFULLY would put electrical tape on the power wires to keep them from shorting, and his battery exploding.

I'm pretty sure it's the factory sub wiring because last time I checked, large gauge power wire was wrapped in PVC, not black and white shrink (which is what i'm inferring from his post). I'm not sure if it used RCA inputs though. I may be wrong.

Is the stock head unit still in the car?

someone had a system in there and took it out...Factory NEVER uses RCA's to transfer sound, they like hi-level inputs rather than low level...and if you have a factory stereo u might wanna check behing it and see if someone has left you a line converter back there.....since there are RCA's in the back.
