Default Bad noise at 3k rpm

hello
I just got my oil changed at 21k miles and now when ever my car is at 3-4k rpm it sounds like theres marbles rolling around in the bottom end of my engine. Like a real metally bouncing around noise. If you put bb's in a tin can and shook it around with a bit of oil in it, thats waht it sounds like. It only happens when the car is in gear. If i put the clutch in and rev it you cant hear it too well, but when its in gear and you do it its really loud. What should I do? I dont want my engine to die and get stuck with another rental Kia Rio.

if you've checked and the oil is at the correct level.. then it sounds more like you have some deposits in the engine.. i have posted before about this, don't know the link to the article..

but the stuff you should try first is bg products "44K fuel cleaner".. you can find it at http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html and you can locate a shop near you that you can buy it from.. you put it a nearly empty tank (1/4 tank full is ok), then fill up the tank.. run that through and see if the noise goes away.. it has helped me in the past..

hey scooby.. if it's under load when you hear this noise (like accelerating).. i am thinking it might be deposits in the engine.. i had that in engines before, and put some of the 44K fuel cleaner in, no more noise.. deposits can come on in an engine as early as 5000 miles.. you have closer to 10k, it might be what you're hearing..

why not try some 44K in the tank and see if that eliminates that noise at 3k??

Yeah it's only after the 3k mark when you hear it. Toyota says they here it, and that's it's normal on all tc's, and dismissed me away =o( Even thought the noise just started like 3 weeks ago..they say it's normal??

yeah.. i had some issues about around the same mileage, i noticed the engine got a bit noisier but also there was a little hesitation in the engine.. that's when i dumped some 44k in the tank and it never came back. Most toyota dealers I know of don't even have any kind of supplies for engine deposits.. they happen in all engines out there, no matter who the manufacturer is. I guess toyota thinks they are above physics?

i really think you could try some of this and if doesn't work, then okay you know.. but it did help me..

I dont think you are hearing noise from deposits..

Mine makes more noise past 3k, but has done it for a very long time without worsening. I had the dealer note it just in case, but I dont think it is an issue at this point.

But, BG 44k is one hell of a product... I have used thier products many times, and they have the only system cleaner that my father will even use at his shop (dont waste your money on stp and other such nonsense, they really do nothing for existing buildup) .

Found their site for you http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html

hey engifineer.. nice to see your support for the 44K as well.. yeah I mean at least people who have this noise could try it and see if it removed the noise.. I know that on mine i don't have any noise, but have also used 44k early on because I had a slight hesitation.. no more after that..

even if it doesn't work, at least deposits are eliminated out of the problem solving
