Banging...
I have had my tC for a week now, and finally decided to see what the 2.4 was capable of. I punched it and it has ALOT of pep for a small 2.4L 4 cyl... When I shifted from 1st to 2nd, there was wheel hop, followed by LOUD banging like the struts where going to go thought the hood.... Is this normal or something I should be worried about... It also did it when I took off from a light at WOT... If it is a problem how do I tell my dealer without saying I was pushing the car hard? Thanks! By the Way, Love the forums!
wow, you just caused alot of damage to your car. you've had it for a week and you went WOT? what the hell where you thinking? at least put 1,000 miles on it before you go all out in it. the dealer will most likely know that you revved the hell out of it so you will most likely won't have your warranty cover for that.
Ummmm, yeah, It wasnt coming from the engine. It was the tires/suspension... Going WOT with 700 miles on it, isnt going to hurt it... it just banged when I got wheel hop then stopped once it got traction...
I did a search and beleive that its wheel hop... The engine going back and forth because the wheels are loosing traction, and the engine mounts are absorbing the motions and making the banging... not good but its a problem the tC has... Engine mounts and tires should be replaced to help reduce it...
yep, it's wheel hop alright, scared the crap out of me when i tried showing off for my friend once...
i never really get alot of wheel hop, well, i never really try to spin the tires either. but, i get the most wheel hop when the roads are wet. i have stock potenza tires. i will be getting the type R engine damper, it's suppossed to nearly eliminate all wheelhop, and it should extend the life of the engine mounts
