Basebllstar's Build Thread (Updated w/New Rims & More)

Thought I'd post an update to give a little info out to those thinking of using plastidip.
So the process was interesting. For anyone plastidipping BLACK rims, you'll need more of the white base coat, closer to 3-4 cans than the 2 they give you. The blaze colors DO NOT add to the opacity of the plastidip, they are very translucent, which is why the base coat is very important.
I peeled the dip off after about a month because it started peeling near the edges of the rim. Seems there's a bit of a catch 22 with using cards to prevent tire overspray. If you really shove the cards in the crevice it prevents any spray from getting in between the tire and the rim, but the edge is more likely to peel up. On the other hand if you gently put the cards in place so the dip gets between the tire and rim, it wont peel, but it'll be a "sonova_____" to get out.
Either way, peeling plastidip was probrably the best part. It was fun and beter yet, once its pulled off, my rims are already clean since i cleaned them before I applied the dip.

Been a while since I've updated anything. Seems like Life got in the way, as I'm sure many of you can relate. I got married in June, Moved in September and between both of those I dealt with the Government Furlough and Governemnt Shutdown. Yay!
So since the last update a couple small things here and there were done. I managed to find a set of Tweaked Ice Convex Mirrors (Only been looking for a set for 2 years. ) and mated them with a Broadway Convex Rearview. I also picked up a set of window visors, a set of the OBX manual pedal covers and a sheet metal engine cover by SSD performance. The cheap paint on the hood had a few chips so I had the hood wrapped in White CF vinyl; it looks good, and it keeps the hood looking decent.
The first big addition was the Dezod Green Header. My butt dyno tells me performance was gained. I'm glad to get rid of the ugly stock header, eliminate rasp and I actually saw improved MPGs. That was an unforseen benefit. It's a great header, much approve.
The second big addition, and by far the most noticable is NEW RIMS!
XXR 527 17x8.25" +25 with 205/45R17 Nitto Neogens.
Not super original or super baller, but I like em and its my car. I had front and rear fenders rolled. Front sits perfect with a slight poke. rear is slightly les than flush. I need to gut the fenderswells and space the rear out a bit. The car isn't slammed and I think its a very practical/modest setup since it is DD.
Now on to what you really want, Pics.

Well, the wheel bug bit me earlier this year. I loved my XXRs, but they started to get a little too popular for my taste and the Gold just didn’t pop enough for me. I built this car, I am very proud of it. My ultimate goal isn’t to get everyone to like it, but I’d at least like to get you looking.
So I went and looked for something that was a little more my style. Found a steal of a deal on some grids in Maryland and did the 9 hour round trip to go get them. I spent the summer finding time to get things right so that I could get this thing sitting where I’d like. The front coilovers now have a custom spring to allow me to go lower. The rear fender has been shaved so I can run a 10 mm spacer in the back. The most prevalent change is the powdercoating of the grids to a custom neon yellow.

This is one of the nicer tCs I've seen and even w/o a lip, as well as w/ the lip, and in VA? That is a rarity, so I would assume you're in the NOVA area or further west? Since you said you've dealt with the government furlough.

Actually I live in Hampton Roads.

Yep. All white LEDs with blue vinyl on the back of the gauge face. Aside from a new Gauge face, this is the only way to do it.

Very Nice! I've always wanted to be in a car show but, haven't had a good car to take there, nor enough money to spent on performance parts. Once I get my Scion more advanced than what it is now, you'll see me in the car shows as well. Hopefully to get a nice trophy like yours someday. Keep up with the great work...awesome work you did.
Here's my Pride and Joy I know she ain't much right now but, will be working on on her more in the summertime. I already did replaced the orginal air filter with an K&N (still debating on installing an cold air intake or not)
