Default Bass is in...(pics here)

I laugh at all those who said the Sony P5 series sucked...

I have everything installed and hooked up...

And it sounds incredible...and, the amps are only running at half power...

I'm getting a SPL measurement tomorrow...

I always laugh at people when they get this system put in their car so they can bounce down the street and rattle the teeth out of the people's jaws in houses across the neighborhood, and rattle the screws loose in their car and think it's "UbEr" because they have bass boxes suitable only for a Kiss concert pointed straight at the ground.....

why do anything like that unless you're going into competitions?

just doesn't make sense to me... I sat in my fiance's brother's Acura TL and listened to a 5.1 surround DVD-Audio disc he has on his stock stereo with the stock sub in the back and it was amazing.... from a stock deck and it didn't need to blow off the garage door, it just sounded incredible... inside the cabin - which is where it should matter. But this stock deck is in a $35,000 ultimate Honda Accord, but a system like that's gotta be easy to come across.

but he's 16 and his mommy bought his spoiled behind a $35,000 car and he just got his learners.... but my fiance' doesn't even own a vehicle and she's in her 3.5th year of college.... people worry me sometimes

EDIT: sorry, didn't mean that to sound so personal, i'm just tired, if you like your system I'm all for it, but do me, and everyone else a favor and think twice before you pull up to a stoplight and pump out 96db of gut-wrenching bass - you'd be the only one that thinks that's cool.... trust me

I mute or turn my volume down while not moving (to "not" ____ off other drivers)

I participate in a lot of bass competitions (SPL)...A LOT

My last truck hit 137 off 2x 10" (after 8 tries)

I'm hoping to get real high with these...

Oh man, sony?
What were you thinking?

Anywho now you got all this bass, what are you going to do about the mids and highs? Keep the stock interior speakers? I think the subs might drown them out.

Yah smurf- we want details

I like the system- I'd buy one if I had a garage to park in- my last two systems got jacked, so I'm not gunna buy my neighborhood thieves any more stereos!

Agreed that if your not competing that ridiculous bass systems aren;t really worth it for the cost. However, the difference in sound quality between a stock system andan aftermarket system can be unbelivable. I'm not one for huge bass, but I have and will continue to put time and effort into sound sytems designed for high sound quality.

As for your comment about a 5.1 system. Head Units with surround sound processing haven;t been out all that long, but they are starting to become more common. I.e. I have a Clarion proaudio deck in my Tc that has Dolby Digital Surround Processing in it. But to truly get the advantages of surround sound in a car you need to have 5.1 channels for each listener. Its not like home theatre where you can image around a large object that everyone sits on, i.e. the couch. In a car the listeners are positioned offset from the focal point of the speakers (if they are in stock locations). Timing controls on the head unit can adjust this for one listener, but not more then one. So the only way to get true surround sound in a car for more then one listener is to have multiple sets of right, left, center, rear right and rear left speakers for each listener. You can get away with 1 sub for everyone because bass is nondirectional. But obviously to do it right aftermarket would require substantial modification.

Your right though, the TL sound sytem does sound amazing.

I'm glad you got your speakers in. I don't prefer Sony myself, but apparently your going for loud db and not clarity. Did you have Sony's in your truck?

It was a special editon that the particular dealer put out. It had some nice options, like leather and stuff. But the best part is that he just saw it, and got it. No waiting! Aint' that right, smurf?

the p5s are ok, ive had one for a short while before and it hit pretty good, but i dont think ur going to no competitions with that, i believe u that it bumps tho, and i love bass, you dont HAVE to go competition because u have bass in your car, dont listen to chumps like that, i have a system in my car cus i like the bass and i know a grip of people that do too, and none of them go competition...

I actually dig the new Sony woofers. I *HATED* the older models, and it got to the point where I was refusing to sell or install them for anyone. The new ones are impressive, bang for the buck. They're versitile, clean, and have a reasonable amount of volume. For $100 at Best Buy (or cheaper if you catch them when they're on sale), why not?
