On the contrary gentlemen, a good tint job is not related to the cost whatsoever! I live in miami, where tinting is cheap! Not just the fly by night places either... I got mine for 85$ (with tax) Diamond tints, (20%) with A Lifetime waranty for any issue whatsoever. Oh...and the shop I went to has been around for 20 years, so my warranty will stick...I feel bad for the rest of the country. The actual tints cost squat. It's all labor cost...

Most of my mods were under $100 ;)

$30 Corolla intake hacked to fit the tC
$99 TRD springs when they were on special
$60 8" bazooka tube + $40 for scion harness
$60 auto-dimming compass mirror off eBay
$100 15% llumar tint (got one of the tint shop guys to do it on the side for me)
$30 worth of vinyl overlays to cover silver eyelids, turn signals and rear brake light
$5 bright white LEDs for parking lights
$80 GPS antenna for my PDA

I still managed to spend over $1200 on the tC without doing anything major...

Depends on the quality... good, quality tint should run closer to $200... unless, as you mentioned, you knew the guy.

Wow... must be really cheap there then. The town I moved from had cheap labor everywhere (low economy). For example, expensive mechanic/dealership labor is $50/hr there, and a "cheap" tint job is still $125.

Edit: Oh, and tint does vary in cost. Quality tint (that wont turn purple in 6 months) costs considerably more than cheap stuff.

Exactly. Of course you can get it cheaper if you know people or you live in some cheap town. But, in bigger cities where everything is more expensive, tints are going to cost $200 or above if you want quality and near perfection.

Dont mind him , He shops for carparts at walmart.
Sure. Last time I checked, Walmart sold high quality merchandise.

These have a pretty high output. I went through every vendor I have used for design projects, and $1.35 is about as good as it gets for the same output and view angle for blue LEDs. What is the mcd rating, Vf rating and view angle for the LEDs you purchased? Also, what color are they?

Bought them here (on backorder, so I will get them Monday) : http://www.lc-led.com/Products/department/5

They are 350mcd with a 120 degree view angle, and a 3.2V Vf (forward operating voltage)

It will take 14 of them to do the three gauges and the Odometer backlight. I ordered more because I plan on doing the console. ScionDad and one other I saw on here have also done this mod. There is an issue with some of the console ones being a little dim. Me and him are both planning on figuring out which components to resize to correct this. Whoever gets to it first will post a solution.

Thanks, I also so another thread about the console being a little dim. Ive done some soldering in the past but was told Id need a low voltage iron for a project like this. Any you reccomend or would just a low voltage radio shack one work fine?
