Default BIG PROBLEM!!

Ok...so earlier today i was installing my front greddy strut bar and um, those stupid spacers that they come with gave me a problem. As i was tightning the nuts that hold down the strut bar...the one i was tightning just all a sudden felt loose. So i took off the socket wrench and discovered that i had stripped the bolt due to over tightning.. And now my right side of the car is not fully secure because of the stripped bolt. So i was wondering does anyone have the part number for these bolts or an extra bolt for those who bought coilovers. Thanks

Um...take the good bolt to the hardware store and buy a new one?

Though it if 'all the sudden felt loose' it sounds like you may have stripped the threads in the car, not just the bolt. If the bolt was hard to screw in the whole way down then you stripped the threads and will have to tap some new ones.

Yea, you may want to pick up a torque wrench while you are out as well so that you don't do this again. Those nuts are supposed to be tightened to a specific torque so, undertightening or overtightening can be very bad on those parts as you found out.

They're not bolts, they're studs that are swaged into the strut cap. You're going to need to find someone who bought coliovers and doesn't need the front strut caps anymore (or buy adjustable caps yourself). I'm sure the dealer would love to poke you in the eye with the cost for that one.

Good call, didn't think of that, yeah...never mind about the tapping crap, although you still could have screwed over the studs if the nut and stud was not threaded correctly all the way down.

That's just it, as they stamped in, I don't think you can. You'll have to replace the whole strut mount (hat).

Through a parts house, I'd reckon about 70 bucks. Start looking for people who went to full coilovers, or calling wrecking yards.
