Default BIG PROBLEM CAR WILL NOT START

ok so i am in dire need of help here. My tC won't start, when i put the key in and turn it to the "on" position, it continues to beep at me like it is in the " acc" position when i have the door open. and no it is not the seat belt beep or the few beeps when u first put it into the on position. My guages then do not do the cool resetting thing where they go all the way over. next when i try to start the car... nothing. I turn the key and nothing happens. the stereo and lights turn off like normal but i hear nothing. no starter noises, nothing.

does anyone have any idea what could have happened? is there some kind of starter kill that i triggered aciidentally?

i'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow, but i was wondering if it's just something i could fix myself, like resetting something.

i tried unplugging the battery and then trying it again but still nothing, maybe i should have left it unplugged for longer to let it completely reset.

i hate this. i feel like crap cuz my baby is broken.

thanks guys

did you try looking the door with the key and unlocking it. my friend had a supra that if you opened the door without using the factory keyless or key in door ( like reaching your hand in the open window and opening from the inside) it would trip the factory starter-kill until he unlocked it with the key......worth a shot

my friends trailblazer used to do a similar thing. it was something with his seurity device and it killed the engine for a certain amount of time, something like that, i just remember sitting a a convenience store for an hour in his car, instead of going to a party for a friend of mine leavin for the marines... it sucked.

you trying to start it with the valet key? I got an extra key that would lock/unlock the doors but didn't have the chip in it to start the car...

T.

edit: is your clutch all the way to the floor if you drive a standard?

If it is actually a breakdown then the Park/Neutal switch (or the clutch switch) could possibly be the culprit. But since it is beeping at you then is sounds like you may have tripped the starter kill. I would say maybe the battery in the key... but they say that it should actually try to start without that but will die immediatly. One of my dads customers a few years ago brought in a camry with the same symptoms. After some checking he found out that it was the security system. He unlocked it with the key because the remote did not work, which set it off. (Luckilly he took it to my father, who did not charge him for anything as some shops would, but he still got stuck with the tow bill!) I cant recall how to reset it off hand. I would put my first guess there. Just call toyota/scion and see how to reset it, or try the spare key they gave you. Good luck!

if its an auto put your foot on the brake then try to start it
also put your foot on the brake and have someone look to see if your brake light comes on
could be the brake on off switch

check to see if that red blinking light for the security key goes off when you put it in the ignition. could have somehow fried the chip thats in all our keys.

Actually your valet key will start the car, whenever i have taken my car into the dealer, i give them that key so they cant get to the ____ in my glove box. Check the battery using a mulitmeter which u can pick up at any electronics store for less than $10 (good to have anyway).
