i point them so they just barely got the corners of the car in sight so that i have a point of reference of where cars are around me relative to me.

I have my mirrors pointed far out so that they barely overlap my rearview mirror. This set-up gets me no blind spots what-so-ever. If the car is no seen out of the front driver or passenger windows, they are seen on the mirrors. If they are not seen on the mirrors than they are seen on the rearview mirror.

This little trick gets rid of any blind spots.

Yeah, I just glance over my shoulder as well just for extra protection.

I'm with Shogun et al on this one. My mirrors are far enough out that if I tilt my head all the way to either side, I can see just see the corner of my own tail. When my head is straight up, I have virtually no blind spot to contend with.

Any mirrors made within about the last 20 years are capable of not needing those circular mirrors or other aids if set correctly, as per the links above.

My Dad has told me that the proper way to adjust your mirrors is by leaning all the way to each side and tilt them out so that you can't see the corners of the car.

It makes some sense, but I have mine so that sitting in my comfortable spot I can just see the far back corners of the car. I guess the rest of you guy's do this but, I back up only using my mirrors. Yes, that means that I do not turn around.

And before anyone asks why...I drive a truck for work, so I don't have the luxury of a rear window.

i keep the mirrors low so that when i back up into parking spaces i can see the lines (why keep the mirrors high where 50% of it is the sky??) and out enough where i see just a little bit of my tC. in regards to blindspots, i don't always trust my mirrors and take the initiative of turning my head to look.

That is exactly how I have mine set-up. The instant it disappears form the rear view its in the sides....safest way...0 blindspot

my passenger side mirror is set up so that if i can see both headlights of the car to my right, i have enough room change lanes ahead of him.

I have one of those wide mirrors and I point it to where I can see all of my right rear window. And got my side mirror adjusted to where I can see almost two lanes.

So with the broadway mirror you can see the whole rear windshield *and* the right rear window? That's pretty sweet.

Beware of one thing, fast approaching vehicles and/or motorcycles coming from behind on the left side (driver's side). . . the rearview (center) mirror's field of view will be blocked by rearward cars, and having the driver's side mirror out that far will not allow you to see that that area, unless you lean towards the mirror. The field of view is there, but the range will be very limited.

Don't get me wrong, I set up the same as you do, but keep that in mind. It is most important when in traffic and changing lanes, particular when motorcycle's are passing.

And the tC is NOT completely blindspot free no matter how you set it up. . . particularly when backing out of parking spaces. . . but even when driving in a parrallel direction in traffic. You can thank our bulbous C pillars.

When I had my xA, it was relative blind spot free, as the car is shorter than where the "blind spot" normally would be on most cars,

Am I the only one with them low enough to be able to see the parking lanes when backing it up?
