Default It was bound to happen...

I have finally joined the ranks with others that have felt my pain. Last weekend I was struck on the driver side rear bumper/quarter panel. It happen so quickly that all I felt was a jolt and all I saw out the rear view was the name plate as it turn on to the on ramp!!!! RRRRrrrrh! This kinda stuff just erks the hell outta me...the person in the Navigator never stopped and now I left to foot the bill on the repairs!

I just got an estimate on the repairs ...with the new bumper its about $1100. Without the new bumper, figure about $300 cheaper???

Its not that bad...but if i can tell its there, then I know everyone else can too
I guess my tires will have to wait. Man this blows...I didn't think I'd have to sink $$$ into repairs yet. I've only had in for a month.

That would be great...if I could find one I liked. And thats only if they're available...which I highly doubt. It is an eye sore...but when cleaned up with the rest of the car...it really isn't as noticeable. I guess I'm just really **** about the car...wouldn't you? Its only a month old?

...I thought about that...but wouldn't that still come outta your pocket??? Plus you'll have to worry about premiums going up afterwards. My wife and I have had a clean driving record for about several years now. So I can almost imagine the insurance co. ready and willing to take more money from me. Not cool!

your premiums shouldnt go up if someone hit and run on you. tho you will have a deductible but if you have it at 500 or less its better than paying 1,100

so at least call them to check etc ya know? asking doesnt hurt unless your asking that girl you had a cruch on in high school if she'd sleep with you for 20 bucks.. oh yeah that hurt big time..

It shouldnt go up... its not like it was your fault. Id be damn if im going to pay insurance.. have somebody hit me and then my insurance gets higher because of that... If it was my fault then i can understand... in your case, it wasnt.

okay...

Now hearing all of this is really starting ____ me off! I feel like a moron for not calling in a claim when I should have.

I'll give it a try...but doubt it will work since this happened last saturday. And on top of that last week wasn't exactly "our" week. My wife was sandwiched between a Super Duty and another Tahoe in bumper to bumper traffic. The Super Duty stopped way to late and wasn't paying attention and slammed into her, this caused her to roll forward about 4ft into the rear end of a Tahoe.

The front impact caused both airbags to deploy... Luckily my wife wasn't hurt...

So this isn't looking very good. Even though this wasn't her fault...2 claims would sound really fishy right about now.

So now what would you suggest?

Id still do it. they wont know that it happened last saturday. Just bad luck thats all, who cares if they think something looks fishy. Just act like you know what your talking about and try not to bring the coincedence in until they start talking about it. If they mention it, just tell me that it just happened all in the same week. NOW FIX IT, BECAUSE THATS WHY I PAY INSURANCE FOR

I was in New Orleans on a two lane one way and this Texan in a Ford Explorer changed lanes "without looking" as he said and side swiped me. Messed up my door panel, mirror, and rear quarter panel and the bottom lip thing. Fortunately he stopped and will be paying for everything. Only had my Tc for a couple of weeks. One question, now that my car has been hit, does it depreciate the value of the car more than normal? I am taking to the dealer so there will be no after market parts put in. :?:

Exactly. If you're not going to use it, there's no point in having it. They get your money to provide a service, and we all know that fixing that isn't going to make them lose any money on you or anything. They're still making a profit on you so... I'd be causing a ruckus. That and switching if there was any problems to be had.

The more I think about it...the more I'd wished I could have handled it alot better! My luck I would have chased him/her down and end up getting a gat in my direction! Texas people are abit intimidating...and I'm sure as hell not exactly a big person!

Neway...I've been convinced! I'm calling the insurance co. on Monday. I'd rather pay $500 then $1000 ne day.

Definitely report any accident, whether it is your fault or someone elses, to your insurance company. I just had a senile 88 year old hit my tC and he didn't even know it. Luckily he hit another car at about 40MPH (in a parking lot, no less) and the cop saw the damage. When I came out and saw, old man had hit my bumper, fender and bent my inner tie rod.

Sometimes I think it is best to get a ratty old car and just let it happen. Too many SUVs around with small parking spots and they think they own the road.

Good luck on getting it fixed. I have a bumper, fender, and tie rod on order.....
