A/C issues
I have heard some people complain about thiers... but mine works great so far... I have driven it in mid 80s and had to turn the temp up cause it was cold.. what are the last 5 digits of your VIN?
yes i did push the ac button AND the recirc button. seems like i have to have the fan on pretty high to get it cold.
engifineer...whats my last 5 digits of my vin have to do with ac? just curious

I beleive they have a TSB out for it: 126349 A/C SLOW COOL DOWN 2004-11-16 AC008-04
Check this thread for a list of them : https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...865&highlight=
The sad fact of modern cars is that CFC-free A/C isn't as cold as the previous ozone layer-ruining stuff.
Usually you can maximize your cooling by making sure the coolant (not actually freon anymore, but people still refer to it as freon) is fully charged up. Ask the dealer to check when you go for your next service.

I just meant that although 134-A does not cool as well as R12, the issue that was mentioned on here seems to be even worse. Mine cools very well.. but not as well as the old R12.... but some have said that theirs does not cool as well as the tC should. I know... sounds weird to say it.... but you get the drift! heh heh
I actually just got back from the dealer this morning about this. The mechanic showed me 2 different gauge readings and they were consistently low; however, I was still sweating from the heat. We went out for a drive and he understood what I meant...that even though the air was blowing cold it wasn't cooling down fast enough in the cabin. I guess the design of the vents are placed to where the air doesn't flow as well? The a/c kicks in about 2k rpm and it works less when you're driving the car harder so you don't sacrifice too much power with the a/c on. Eventually the car does get colder in the cabin..a little slow..but I guess you just gotta wait it out.
Uh oh... I am planning on getting a tC in May or June sometime, and poor A/C would be death for me here in Arizona. The temperature where I live is usually 100-110F.
Hopefully it's not a big deal...
