Before the search police jump on this one... I have read its the more agressive gearing on the tC's transmissions.

^ yup...

that's also why the tC is quicker than a camry...

you really can't have power and speed with good gas mileage...

you have to choose one...

Just like almost every other car Toyota makes... Camry engine with a few mods...

Tell that to the new Accord Hybrid (250+hp, Civic mileage).

Not entirely true. My MR2 gets 27mpg around city (with a good amount of hwy travel and back roads) and still can post 0-60times around 5flat.

There is a lot that goes into it. Weight of the car, transmission gearing, computer fuel mapping, etc.

not a ton lighter, just alittle lighter, the biggest difference is gearing and as FlorenceScion stated.

Ohh...so we're talking about hybrids now...OK, I was talking about strictly ICC engines...

But I will agree with you on the new accord hybrid...nice stats...

The Camry is a nice car, but the size, style, and suspension turned me away and towards a tC.

It also has less HP and torque, a softer suspension, no standard moonroof, standard steel wheels, and a weaker stereo.

160lbs to 200lbs I would figure thats quite a bit. It will addup too, even your body weight and that sub box will add and extra 50-100lbs.

I actually have to question the stereo comment...a lot of the systems with huge wattage ratings and "brand name" backing actually aren't very good at all.

Grab a CD and go find someone with a newer Camry...the system actually outputs quite a bit of power without distorting, and even though it doesn't come with a subwoofer stock the bass reproduction is pretty good, mostly because of how the Camry setup is laid out (the fact that the car is roomier helps).

Just think you should listen to it first in case you haven't.

...and the newer ones are a bit on the ugly side. Nothing like the Civic Si or anything, but certainly not hot like the tC.

Default I have a camry

I have a 2003 Camry SE and I test drove the tC, there is a difference. Currently the tc has 3hp/3ft tq more than the camry, but with the supercharger that all should change. Whatever comes out for the tC engine, will fit in the camry engine. I have stiffened up the suspension, added a sway bar. Purchase the SC and push it to 200hp/200ft tq. Nothing wrong with the camry...it gives good gas mileage and you dont have to worry about it until it hits 200,000 miles. My 92 Toyota Previa has 176k miles.
