Be careful what you wish for there, Ralph Nader. Next thing you know we'll all be driving with mandatory helmets on and have seatbelts mounted to the doorframe like the ugly old Ford Escorts. Forcing things on the public in the name of "safety" has always had unintended consequences when the government got involved. (/end Libertarian rant.)
p.s. I always wear my seatbelt, because I want to, not because I am forced to do so.
Nice rant!

I put mine on everytime I get in the car to drive, but if I'm just moving the car or something along that lines it gets annoying.

if the seatbelt sound grinds your gears i cant imagine how the dash lights that take a few seconds to go off really rip you to pieces.....

theres no way man

the best way to ensure that it is off is to not wear it...travel at high speeds and slam into a wall. When your face meets the dash, it will be disabled permanently

wow, what a flame fest... the guy just wanted to turn his seatbelt buzzer off, if he wants to wear his seatbelt or not wear it i would think its his decision. also wearing his seatbelt had nothing to do with the origonal topic. i love how every thread around here just turns into a flame fest... carry on.

For the seatbelt I did the whole ODO and seatbelt combo to stop the buzzing, and for the door buzzing at me when the car was on I de-soldered the damned buzzer off the board when I did my LED gauge swap. The only sound my car makes now is the turn signal clicking

BTW I always wear my seatbelt, I just hated the buzzing it made whenever I would take it off early or back out of my driveway while I was putting it on.

I deliver pizzas in my tC and sometimes I have a stack of pizza in the passenger seat.... I find it very annoying to listen to the beeping. Am I supposed to buckle up the pizzas too??

Does the odometer trick thing really work?
It doesn't disable the airbags, right? I'm guessing it doesn't.

For the record, I'm a firm believer that airbags should automatically deploy if a car is driven over 5mph if the driver doesn't have his/her seatbelt on.
Just wear the stupid seatbelt.

I don't wear my seatbelt when I get back in the car after checking the mail in my apartment complex. I have to drive over 4 HUGE speedbumps (huge in like 5 inches high, which wreaks havoc on my car at any speed above .2) so I have no need for a seatbelt in that case.

Going to unplug it under the seat tomorrow.

the seat belt buzzer should only buzz when the driver is not buckled, having pizzas on the passenger seat will only flash the airbag on/off indicator.

Go ahead, unplug your seat... It'll only cost ya $80 to reset the error code at the dealer, if it doesn't cost you your life before you get there.

Why would I need to go to the dealer to have a code reset? I'd put a nice piece of electrical tape over the blemish on my instrument panel before paying $80 to a stealership to fix a problem I know what is being caused by.

Then again I have resources to have my codes diagnosed and reset for free, and not by pepboys.

I for one can't believe how big of a deal this is to you guys. I turned mine off like 4 days after getting the car. I wear my seatbelt every time I drive. The only exception is that here in AZ my mailbox is about 4 houses away from mine. I grab my mail and drive to my house with it off on occasion. I do not drive in traffic without my seat belt and this guy does not sound like he does either. everyone here seems to just be on a soapbox about weather or not seat belts are needed. It is not even what the topic is about. Granted this guy is trying to turn off a beep that is not even the seatbelt beep, but just the initial beep that all cars have.

We should wear knee pads too so if they hit the dash you can protect your knees, a helmet would be good. maybe even a chest protector to prevent broken ribs from the DAMN seat belt. There is now way that a 4 point harness is more unsafe on the road than that thin little thing that only holds half your body that came with the car. I guess if you have a harness you should drive about 150mph so that it can safely hold you in then.

Ok, I'm done with this...
