I was pretty sure the 07 was slightly better than the 06, the same car but with a few improvements. Now Scion's website seems contradictory, so I'm not positive.

Here is what I think the situation is though;

for 07 there's essentially two trim levels of the car, the regular tC and the tC spec. The regular tC is the same as the 06 with a few minor improvements, at a $100 price increase.

Improvements over the 06 include;
oil spraybar in the engine
one more horsepower
one more mile per gallon
a little less torque(? not an improvement but I believe it changed)
extendable sun visors
slightly more advanced front airbags
better tire pressure monitoring system
different fabric on the seat bolsters.

The Spec car is a cut down version of the tC aimed at people who plan on changing a bunch of the stock parts and heavily customising their car. It is very much in addition to the regular tC, and not replacing it.

If this is correct, basically the 07 tc is very slightly better, but there's been no changes significant enough in my opinion to really matter.

Neither, go back with Honda for a car with more power. tC is too heavy and with i/h/e and a stage 2 clutch your just as fast as a stock tC, not worth it in my opinion. All about power to weight. But if you insist on going with the tC, 06 and 07 differences are pretty small.

Price went up on most toyotas due to % mark ups on them, not really mark ups but yeah. tC insurance is pretty high because its listed almost at high risk on insurance due to the amount of accidents on the road.

Have you checked out the 06' Si, or ep3 (equal to power to tc, and more performance potiental), a newer prelude or early 00's s2k? You can always go with a Fit or even a toyota yaris like i did.

Again that's the confusion with the spec package.

the 07 tC is $100 more MSRP than the 06. The spec package is MSRP $15,000 - $15,800.

Unless you are going to seriously modify the car, or can live without even some basic comforts, forget the spec package even exists, it's causing ridiculous amounts of confusion.

fixed all glass roof (still extremely top heavy), and a few other things different like steelies instead of alloys. The biggest thing is its 15k and Scion/Toyota is only given them to people they feel will build the cars vs. buying it because its cheap. They are screening customers so i hear to make sure of this. Ridiculous, retarded.

maybe thier execution is bad, but Scion definitely has the right idea with the spec package. if i could have bought my tc without paying for wheels, tires, speakers, head units, a hood, a trunk, brake pads and rotors, and all sorts of other miscellaneous stuff that was replaced as soon as i got the car, i would've been VERY happy.

Joe, I can't believe you are thinking about getting rid of the xA-Team Scion.

As for the tC Spec Package, it is, like the others said, a stripped down version of the stock tC. From what I have heard, it comes with a solid roof, steel rims, only certain exterior colors, and is intended to be modded. Alex should be able to help you out in figuring out which tC you want.

You might as well wait for an '07. For an extra Benjamin, you get a few more extras. Plus, the '07s will be here pretty quick! So I doubt that you will have a choice. (Unless you buy used, but why do that?!!) If you do get an '07 and decide you don't like the extendable sun visors, I'll trade you my '05 visors! j/k

Welcome to the Dark Side!

Once again, I think you're out in outerspace about this one. My insurance is cheaper than the last car I had, and the tC is classified as a "3-door Passenger Vehicle" by Mercury insurance. Insurance on this car should be extremely low. Go drive your Yaris, and stop confusing the membership[ by talking about cars you don't own, and haven't driven.

This sounds like the BS dealers were feeding customers for the 05 models. You need to check your research, because this can't be right. Scion is a pure-priced company, not a purchase by invite company like Ferrari.

Don't listen to this guy, I suggest you call Scion Customer Service with questions instead.
