You can get some grease or some sort of anti-squeek compound and apply it to the spring under your dash connected to your clutch. That's what is squeeking. It happens with every other car. My gas pedal squeeked a little in the beginning, and went away over time. I was driving a 50k mercedes SUV and the gas pedal squeeked very bad Smile.
This would be true for my situation, but when it was on the lift, no noise...Only when the weight of the car was involved. Next week I hope to have it back so we'll see. I think it is synchros or gears as well, but I also didn't troubleshoot it either. Hope the tech knows his stuff.

My roomate has a WRX and his car makes a similar sound but i think its coming from the differential in the rear.. none the less, it sounds like gears or synchronizers arent doing something right. either that or it is ok and its supposed to make that sound. if its something wrong and everyone here hears it, maybe there will be a factory recall on the MT TC.
With the small percentage of people having this issue I seriously doubt a recall. They will maybe issue a tsb for the cars affected, but that is it. There are way more people not having the issue than are (mine shifts smooth and quietly). Just take it to the dealer and have them keep looking into it. If it were your synchros it would most likely be grinding badly, not clunking. A click between shifts occurs on tons of other cars.. that is no issue at all.

I have a tc and when i bought mine i also got three of my friends hooked and now they all drive the same damn car...well anyway we all noticed the same sound and we all have figured that when we shift from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd our damn muffler tip wacks the sh*t out of the rear bumper...anyone have anyideas how to stop this....it sounds horrible

I wonder if thats what the noise is? its odd though because even if i leave it in gear without shifting I can make the noise by letting the weight of the car fall back onto the engine if I accelerate and dont shift.. weird

Some people don't notice this noise because they don't pay enough attention to it. My tc is currently at 5k miles and i can hear the klunk noise everytime i shift from 1-2-3. I hadn't really pay attention from 3-4-5.

If you approach the dealer with this kind of conplaint, 99% of the time they will just say that they can not duplicate the noise.

Well still waiting on my repair. If that didn't fix it then I'll look into the muffler tip, but I am almost positive it is coming from the front, not the back.

The dealer won't say they can't duplicate the noise if you drive with them and show them the noise. I can replicate it pretty easily.

We'll see come this weekend or next week when I get it back what the deal was.

UPDATE:

Finally got my tc back. Here's what they replaced, and guess what....the noise is gone.

Replaced:
L/S AXEL AND NUT (FP #, Description)
- 43420-44050, Shaft Assy. FR DR
- 90080-17238, Nut, Lock

Of course no charge...Warranty. But would have been $701.

Can someone give me a clue as to what and why...Also would this if not fixed done sig damage to the car?

Since this is a thread on Tranny's, I didnt want to start a new one so here's MY problem:

Ever since a month ago when I'm at a complete stop, and try to put it into first gear, it goes half way in and gets stuck... then, when i start releasing the clutch THEN it goes all the way in and takes off.. it's not ALL the time but about 2 out of like 10-15 take offs

Well the bigger problem is that last week it started actually grinding when I try to put it into first and again, it's not all the time but 2-3 times out of 10 now...

My friend, suggested that instead of Neutral > First, I should go from Neutral > 2 then straight up to first and wow.. what a difference.. it takes away ALL the problems.. but it's annoying putting it 2>1 to take off every time..

Also if I try to put it straight into first, it feels like there's something stopping it so I have to force it in a little bit..but from 2>1 it goes in like butter so I dunno

I'm taking the car to be checked sunday for this, my rattling sounds, and the A/C probelm where it doesnt cool as fast... wish me luck!

From what i know, its the exhaust hitting the heatshield.. i have TRD exhaust and since its on rubber hangers it moves when shifting and hits the heatshield which produces a klunking noise.

It sounds more like you have your AC on and you are not keeping your revs up... I would try taking it to 3500-4000 rpm before the 1-2 shift and work the clutch right....

Yep, fixed it under warranty... Front left drive axle needed to be replaced. They took apart the axle and it made the noise on the lift too with no load on the wheels.

Mine hasnt made the sound in months, should I still take it in? How will they be able to reproduce the sound if it hasnt happened in months?

Also can someone give me more info on the AC fix? I took mine in a long time ago and they told me it was fine, but the AC sucks, but its also winter time so if they take a temperature test it wont be accurate.
