Default How do I adjust the rear hatch lever?

I'm about to go head out to see if I can find out how myself, but I was wondering if anyone else has already done this. I'm looking to tighten up my hatch seal for rattle reasons, but I'm not quite sure where the adjustment screw is. Thanks in advanced.

I don't know if there is an adjustment screw - it sure would be nice if ther was. I think the people who were having problems with the looseness were putting in bigger rubber stops which just held it out farther.

Have you had the Service Bulletin done yet?

Where do you get these elusive bigger rubber stops?

I'm not sure - I think it was something people were doing on their own as well as something the dealer might have been doing. I bet if you took one of the existing ones with you to Home Depot you could probably find something that would work.

the existing rubber stops are screw-in type i believe - then you can just 'un-screw' them out a bit

what's the service bulletin though?(remind me?)

you could prbably find larger stops at homedepot (theyre in the asile where they have table leg rubber covers and things)

Would they actually fit? Because the rubber stops on the tC's hatch are actually "plugs"... you just push/pop them in and out.

The bigger rubber stops did NOT work for me. My answer was just wrapping electrical tape around the hatch bar. Maybe 5-6 wraps. This made for a tighter fit and no hatch rattle now for over 6 months. You might have to adjust the number of wraps as too few will leave the rattle and too many will make the hatch very difficult to open.

Good luck.

Be more specific, the hatch bar? You mean the end point where it locks with the latch, on the car (rather than the hatch)?

Make sure its actually the hatch latch first. Most people with hatch rattle issues eventually realize that its actually the rear sunroof panel that is making the noises. It is not obvious. I initially tightened the hatch, then replaced the struts, then toyota finally pinpointed the source to the rear roof glass. Before you start adjusting, have someone sit in your backseat to confirm.
