Ok, when i got the tC brand new, for a brand new car i thought the engine...general running of the car sound, sounded kinda loud for a new car? i know loud is relative.
its not loud like it sounds like something is "broken" but just loud running sound and accelerating just sounds so, like im pushing the car too much...which i don't b/c i havent exceeded the break-in period. so i accelerate slow. i guess im comparing to my 94 mazda protoge, that seemed like you could hear it run hard to pick up speed (poor thing).

i dunno, i hope i explained this right. just wondering if this is normal.

It's normal, it can be kinda loud, but remember that this car was targeted for a young group that wanted a nive sporty looking and sounding car. I have been and driven a 2004 camry and it wasn't as loud as the tC. The camry is a family car and Toyota does not want it to be loud, cause changes are older people will drive this type of vehicle, just like the corolla etc. I'm sure that they could have made the tC engine quietter, but then it wouldn't have soon as sporty and prob. would have sacrafised horse power.

 

I know what you mean... when my tC is on, the engine makes more noise the old 82 Corrola.

 

I still to this day let my car run for 5 mins before i turn off the engine. i already have 13K miles on it, but it's still a new engine.

Make sure you just do all the neccessary tune ups, and oil changes! dont want to be like my one friend who ruined his engine already (3,000 miles on it) is getting rebuilt as we speak

 

The stock muffler in the tC has a valve that opens up in the higher RPM range and makes the engine noise louder.
