Care for dash?
Hi all, I leave my car out in the hot sun all day and I am wondering what should I do to take care of the dash? I know to clean it with just soap and water, but should I also use some product to keep it from cracking? I have heard that Armor All is not good to use for longterm care so is there a product that will keep it from cracking and be good for it? Thanks.
The best dashboard butter I've found so far is Adam's VRT. Its thick like a lotion and if you buy one of their kits it comes with foam wedges which applies it soooo nice. Leaves a low gloss shine, gets into contours easily and lasts for months.

303 Protectant or Meguiar's Natural Shine Protectant. Several of the over the counter brands offer a low gloss sheen as a selling point; just look for those. Otherwise, just use any available protectant spray or wipe and that'll be all you need.
Don't forget to clean the dash first, before you protect it, unless you buy a cleaner/protectant all in one.

Dont use anything that is petroleum based (like amorall).. worse thing you can do.
Any chemicals you use can create more of that haze on the inside of your windshield, which means more cleaning for you. Armorall is the worst I have seen for this, not to mention being worse for your dash than using nothing at all.
The best answer is to use water to clean it and nothing else on it at all if you can keep it out of the sun most of the time. However, I use Meguires interior detailer in sparing amounts.. and only every couple of months.

For the cleaning the dash I use ArmorAll cleaner, or sometimes my moist chamois after I am done washing the car.
For Protecting I use Satin Prot from Jeffs Werkstatt.

I don't see the problem everyone seems to have with using a dash protectant--Other than Armor-all--that has a sunscreen in it.
If you use a quality product like Meguiar's, it will not damage your dash, and it will keep it from fading or drying out.
If you're still paranoid about it, use 303 Aerospace protectant.
