Default Careless People

Well it was a windy day 2 weeks ago and I think mother nature blew someones door into my left rear qtr panal. It happened while it was parked and I was away getting my haircut done. I was gone about an hour then I came to this. No one left a note so I don't know what really happened It happened in a parking lot which is diagonal parking. My car was positioned ahead of whatever car that was parked left of my side. So I thought supposably someones door hit my car in that location. No shopping carts in sight on the lot. I got a dent that's 4 inches in length. Paint was not chipped or scratched.

People are just careless and don't consider the circumstances of the weather. And they don't want to suck up to the responsibility for the damages. I hope whoever done this will get something comin' to them. Just blowing steam.

If you don't see any damage and you leave your info that is dangerous...what happens if someone else causes damage then you end up fixing it? anyway back on topic thats some dent from a door, would have to think the other guy had one hell of a mark as well.

Coupla things:

1) PDR - paintless dent removal - IT WORKS! Look for someone in your area.

2) My wife was going to work a couple of months ago and went to a small place to get some breakfast (like 530AM) and when she got out of her RAV4, she didn't know she was in a wind-storm until she opened the door and it FLEW into the car next to her. She felt AWFUL! She went into the restaurant and FOUND the guys that owned the car and offered to pay for it. When they went outside, the little *ickhead saw a cop and screamed "she hit my car and I want her cited"
My poor wife. He had a POS and she came to find HIM and he did that? The cop, fortunately, was outside and saw it all. Needless to say, he straightened the guy out.

She really felt bad - she knows how guys love their cars because of me.

It really sucks, but try the PDR - I know it works from experience. Get references and give it a shot.

Good luck.

Every time I park so far away from the other cars in a parking lot, I come back out and see that there's another car parked next to me. My tC is such a loner, but her curves must be irresistible.

I can't stand that ish. But I still park a nice distance away, in most cases.

At least the paint stayed intact, hopefully you can have it bumped out.

Good luck.
I can respect women like your wife. Honest. You're lucky to have a loyal understanding lady.

Anyway, the same situation happened to my pass. door 8 months ago. My car has the worst luck. It was windy ( like always in Chicago ) and the wind took my co-workers car door into my car. She came to me as a good samaritan and told me what happened and that she felt bad. I appretiated her telling me and at that moment without knowing what the damages look like, I told her not to worry about it paying for it and offered to take her out to lunch just so there isn't any hard feelings as co-workers. Then when I seen the damage, it wasn't too bad. I had that dent PDRed for free. I know someone that does PDRs on the side. But this current dent is much worst than the last one. This location is a tough one for a PDR to work with.

That's definitely more than a dent. I had similar damage in the same exact location on my tC and the estimate I had was $900. Lets hope the paintless dent removal works for you.

I've seen miraculous PDR work done, so keep positive.
It's really not in too bad of a spot, and a good PDR dude/dudette might surprise you.
I'd def do that over trying to match that nice new paint.

How much would a PDR cost for something like that?

It's not very expensive, luckily, especially compared with the alternative. I had a half-dollar size dent taken out for $95, so I would anticipate a dent like the OP's would be a little more expensive, maybe $200 (?)

Yeah I got a big dent like an hour after making my car nice and clean. It's one my front left fender and I think I can get back there and light tap it out with a hammer and a rag. It's a real soft dent (not hard lines) so I think it will pop back.

I hate people that that, they open their door like there's a bomb in their car with no regard to other people's property. I wish I can get a big paddle and bend them over my knee.
