Default CarMax offered me 15K for my 06 sw. Not bad.

I went to CarMax today to get a free car appraisal and after bout an hour i get the offer of $15,000. my car has 23000 miles on it. I thought not bad but they want my car exactly the way it is for that price. i was gonna take out my system but they want everything. they said that if i was to remove anything it would lower the price of the offer. I might go ahead and sell it to them tho if i like the WRX i go to look at tomorrow. the tc does hold its resale value i must say.

Nice, so do they give you more money than dealership (trade in value)? I might try them later.

i don't know bout trade in value. but that was wierd that they wanted all the aftermarket parts on the car. usually car dealerships don't.

not a bad offer. i wonder if they give more as a trade-in, since their car prices arent that great anyway.

Cool!!!!! Think I'll make arrangements to take my solar yellow xb there. I just looked them up on the web after I saw your post (tc guy), and they don't have one like mine listed anywhere nationwide. I had it in autolocator for one month and not a single call. They will probably give me a good price. Thanks for the info.

Yes its true. Car Max will almost ALWAYS give you more value for a trade-in than any dealership will. And you don't even have to buy a car from them. Just go in, have them appraise it, and they'll cut you a check right there. If you're going to trade your car in do it there.

I really appreciate the heads up tc guy. I can't understand why it hasn't sold. Of course when someone showed interest, I could have done a little better on the price, but I am not willing to give away a collectors item. I think people must really be having problems right now with gas being so high and all. I realize a Mustang is not quite a Toyota in reliability, but they are nice cars and the Ford dealers around here have 2006 and 07's on their lots used already. I get the feeling many of them are reposessions. Beautiful cars with low mileage sitting on used car lots!!! VERY few used xb's for sale though. I would just like to move on to something else now, but not sure what and am not going to make any hasty descisions. If my car goes, I'm just gonna drive my old one for a while and do some research. Anyways...........thanks again.

not yet. they give u 3 days or 300 miles to mull over your decision. u don't have to do it right there and then. but make sure u bring the title, your registration, and a valid i.d. when you go in. thats what is required to make the sale. if u go in prepared then if they give u a good offer u can walk out carless with a check

I only got 11k and sold it anyway. I wish WRX were so affordable over here.

I think I'm gonna try one of the Car Max places in Virginia. Might look over their inventory too, just for kicks. I like looking at cars!!!!!!! If I decide to buy another, I may have to go back to work part time and I've been enjoying NOT working anymore. Retirement is cool but has it's financial limitations!!! New toys cost money.
