Mine does that too. My lil trick is just to snap in really quick and it snaps back open. If you do a full push at it, it wont open up.

you don't have to push in hard. just give it a firm tap, and it should snap back open.

Seems to be a very common problem. Scion needs to figure out a fix.

From what I've heard is has been made hard to open so in a couple of years it wont pop up itself everytime you pass over an ant!!
They wait to open it is a firm snap like others has say. just firm push wont do it, must be more of a snap push.

Later all

Personally I think it's a feature they could have left out. It makes the car unique, but really, it's not really a very user friendly feature to have a cover over your radio controls.

This is one of the most common complaints from tC owners. I say that based on the reviews I read and conversations with several Scion dealerships while buying my tC (and it shows up all over 'net, too!).

Let's face it, that little door thingy is just cheap plastic. I suppose that's what happens when you try to give a $35,000 appearance to a $16,000 car. I'm not complainin- I'm just saying is all. General opinion seems to be that you have to be firm with the bottom center of the door- and that's what Scion apparently tells folks, too.

I sort of feel the same way about the sunroof/moonroof covers. They're just basically cheap vinyl blinds (as opposed to something more solid like particle board, etc., used in other cars) and I don't think they'll last very long if you open and close the ____ out of 'em. I just leave mine open all the time, anyway.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I think it would have helped if they had put stereo controls into the steering wheel, but obviously that's a cost they probably wanted to avoid.

Anyway, the stereo door is really the only complaint I have so far and if that's the only thing after a few months, well then Scion/Toy have done one hell of a job.

It does feel very cheap, but they had to do it that way because we have a full glass roof- Other cars that have particle board as a moonroof cover have enough space left over to house the moonroof cover (the moonroof is only half the size of the roof). If we had a solid cover it would have nowhere to go.

When I first got my car, I was really scared about breaking this thing.

Now I just push with my first three fingers quick and firm. It usually opens on the first try.

Well, I think the cover is really nice, if you upgraded your headunit, you can just put the cover down, and with the stereo controls on a steering wheel, you also frogot the market segment the tC is marketed for, its one where many owners customized their stereo, so the buttons would be then usless. And finally on the sunroof thing, how in the hell is scion suposed to use particle board, when there almost the whole roof is glass. I can't stand people that complain before they think about why Scion did something. Just think about what else they could have done to have a sunshade, not much else. I dont think I have seen anyother car where the whole roof is glass.
