how in the hell is scion suposed to use particle board, when there almost the whole roof is glass. I can't stand people that complain before they think about why Scion did something.
Dude- read my post. I didn't say that they should have used particle board. I was just pointing out that these kind of covers aren't as sturdy as the other style. I know perfectly well WHY scion has the vinyl covers, I'm just saying they might not be as sturdy. And who said I was complaining. It was just an observation and you go and get all ____ty about how "I can't stand people..." meaning me. Whatever.

But since flaming, complaining, and insulting seems to be the norm around here, how about this: Boy, I hate it when people DON'T read a post before saying something STUPID in response!

I give it a firm tap just above the 'button' on the bottom, and it opens just fine. Almost never have to tap it more than once.

yes speed is the key. If you give it a quick tap it opens right up. I have been pushing that thing soo hard because it wouldnt open that it would press a button when I pushed it. Give it a light QUICK tap and it opens like magic.

And it's plastic. They could have made the door cast aluminum too... I'm worried about it breaking and cracking in a year from all the karate-chopping you have to do to get it open and shut. :?

that would be awfully nice if was cast aluminum - I really think someone ought to manufacture a brushed aluminum replacement for it ;) (also for the shift gate on the auto).

Yeah- ditto on the alumninum thing- that would be sweet. But again, as I said before, if you want the car to be cost effective, you get plastic, not aluminum.

But it seems we all agree that it's a cool feature- if it were a bit more solid/functional.

Yea, they sprung for aluminum on the air conditioning ****, a plate of aluminum for this cover couldn't have increased the cost much. However, if a good aftermarket company were to come out with a replacement, I'm sure there is going to be a market for it.

Default any way to remove the radio cover?

Hey u guys/gals...

Mine just wouldn't open at at... try tapping and what not but it just wouldn't open... the only way for mine to open is to push the top center part and kind of force it to open... Doesn't really bother me though... I left it open all the time...

My question is... Since I don't care for the cover...How hard is it to have the cover remove? and it is possible to have the radio push out so that it looks "even" with the dash?

Thanks!
