Here's a link from a BMW site for the 9005/9006 swap:

In 05-07 models the LEDs couldn't survive the heat from the low beam. The accent light in the 08s is in the high beam housing (IIRC) and heat shouldn't be as much of an issue.

...unless you drive around with your highs on all the time.

Oh, right, I didn't know the accent light was in the high beam on the 2008s. In that case, blue would be a no-no because it would be clearly visible even with the low beams turned on. Gotta go with something legal.

Actually, the heat is not the problem. You can get LEDs with heatsinks from autolumination. I had them for a few months and they didn't burn out. The real problem with LEDs is that the light output is not suitable for the housings. My LEDs were really bright, but they just looked like bright spots, kinda like those washer nozzle LEDs. You need a real bulb to spread the light around to the reflectors inside. I never tried those multi-direction LEDs, but they do not come with heatsinks, so that would not work anyway.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll probably order these in white: http://www.eurodezigns.com/shop/detail.aspx?ID=60

I'm gonna check some local auto parts stores first to see if they have them, or maybe just grab a cheap pair off ebay... I just like the eurodezigns ones because of the lifetime warranty. (I got my brightwhite headlights from them too for $25 - work great since silverstar's don't come in H11 yet)

Autolumination seems to have a LOT of stuff and is quite overwhelming with the options in my opinion (since I am new to modding in general)

Yeah, Autolumination is overwhelming, but most of the stuff on there is not applicable for us. You just have to wade through everything to find what fits. I have only ordered 2 or 3 products from there, despite the fact that they have hundreds of bulbs.

Anyway, yeah, you can order from pretty much anywhere. Autozone and PepBoys always seem to have a selection of cheap 194 bulbs.
