I've read some previous threads on fabricating a cheap intake. . . I was wondering if anybody's made any progress at this and how they did it.
I was thinking of doing something like the blitz, I think that;s the one, the short ram that aims towards the rear of the engine compartment.
Yeah, it's gonna get some hot air, but it;s not like that crapp lil snorkel by the battery is getting much better, and an open filter will have much less restriction, not to mention sound cool. THere;s also the air deflecting off the windshield once you pick up speed too (why some cars have backwards wacing hood scoops) so it's not entirely a bad idea.
Getting a filter won;t be a problem, nor mounting it, I think the hardest part will be a plastic/aluminum pipe with proper holes for the vacuum hose and sensor thingies (air temp sensor?) I think there are only two connections before the throttle body.
Anybody? Ideas? Successes? DIY write ups? Jibba Jabba, pidydafoo?

Generally I've been able to find decent cone stlye filters for under $50, they just need 3" intake piping to connect to, and I don't want to cut the stock box off.
heres the thing, i can fab anyone a $50 intake no prob, problem is, is the MAS sensor...that piece needs a built in flange..thats the aprt where cheap intake aint avail as of yet
Actually, Yes, the stock intake location is much better than the Blitz. If you don't have fog lights, push out the plug on the drivers side and let even more cool air into the fender.
It's not a MAS, it's the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor that needs a flange/mounting point in the intake tube. If you are going to make an intake, it's just about the same amount of work to build an intake that goes to the fenderwell like the Injen as a HAI (Hot Air Intake) like the Blitz.
