A jack and a 14mm wrench are all you need.

Well, there's way to beat stealships. You know that every Scion dealership has their own site? Well, mine stated 485.00 including labor. When they called me to let me know the part was in. I asked for estimate...they told me part is 500.00 and labor is additional $200.00s. I printed the $485.00 charge from their site and told them I was confused within minutes of installation.

Sure enough they did it for me for the 485.00 except they kept my OEM muffler. I didn't realize how important it is to keep OEM parts at the time. Oh well.

Yeah, I was going to put the TRD springs on from the beginning, but after hearing that they were going to keep the OEM springs I changed my mind.. I would like to know whet they do with the parts. As for the TRD exhaust get some PB Blaster, old clothes, safety glasses and put it on yourself. The hardest part of exhaust works is getting the bolts off, but are cars are not that old so you may be in luck.

I can't believe the dealer would keep your parts. You should be able to get any old parts back, by telling them before they do the job. The only parts that you can't get back are warranty and recall parts.

and if you are skinny, you don't even need the jack.

seriously this takes 10 minutes to swap. a couple of wrenches, wd40 or soapy water and locking pliers (my trick to get exhaust hanger bolts off in 10 seconds)

They asked me if I wanted it back. I said "No." Then they said "Good cause the box wouldn't fit in the car." Now, I kind of wish I did have it but its not that important. I know a tech who works at Chevy/Toyota dealership and told me they have OEM muffler. He asked me if I wanted it, I said "No. Its not that important for me to have one. I just would like it just in case."

I kept everything else including boxes. Struts, Springs, Engine Cover, Intake. The tech put all my OEM springs and struts neatly placed it back into the TRD boxes.

When I got mine I went to AutoZone and bought some drive up ramps (which I needed anyway) drove to an empty parking garage and did it.
Instead of WD40 I used a soap and water mixture to get the hangers to let go. That was by far the hardest/most time consuming part of the job.
But it only took me about 30 minutes from park to drive. And it is totally worth it to be the first to hear the new note when you turn it on for the first time.

holly.. wow..

I have always worked and done all my own installs.. never realized how expensive modding can be when you pay to have stuff installed too..

I say, Go to Sears.. spend $200 on a jack, stands and some tools and do it your self. Just make sure you have an open day so your not rushed and if you run into a problem.

Sears installed my TRD springs in the front for me with no questions asked. It was getting late so I called 'em up and asked, they told me $25/spring so I was like hell yeah as it was either that or ride around on 2 stockers and 2 TRDs for a few days since I was busy haha.

Oh and yea, the dealer quoted me something like $1300 for TRDs installed. Yeaaaaaaaaa.

People always say us techs are ripping people off. Some of you are getting your springs and install for $250. If I was a customer I would jump on that in a second. $199 for springs. So that means $51 for install. How do you expect a tech to make any money on that. Our labor guide says 5.8. Thats about 6 hrs. Who is ripping who off. Try to remember those good deals you are getting when you think you are getting charged to much for something.
