Default Current used values

Is it just me or are the prices for used 05's really high? I am seeing 05's with over 10k miles going for close to or over the sticker price. I know some have certain options that add to the price but they still seem high. I am thinking of selling my IIP 05 with 4,500 miles on it and just can't figure out what a price I should ask for. KBB or NADA book does not included the extra options in the value of the car. I have the manual trans, air bags, mats, TRD springs, door sills, TWM shifter. I also do not have the annoying hatch rattle so I guess I am one of the lucky ones or I just cursed myself. Thoughts on asking price? Thanks!

Ive noticed the same thing. I dont think there is anyway we can get what the used values are stated. Mine is 05 tC with 14,000 miles with some extra options. Im thinking about asking $14-14.5K firm and just getting rid of this headache. Think I will even get that much?

I think you are still asking too low. I did a blue book private party value of my car in good and excellent gondition and it came up with $16,889 for good and $17,900 for excellent. I know dealers never use the excellent value. Now remember I have the air bags which KBB DOES account for in the prices above, they just don't included any of the other options I have as stated in my first post. I guess I would probably ask around $17,500 obo. I am not in a hurry to sell but if anyone wants a rattle free hatch car in a discontinued color I have one . I am also willing to write out a bill of sale for under $15,000 so you save a few hundred in taxes. I think it is about $600 more if a private party car is sold that is over $15k. I also use onyl Zymol products on the paint. As soon as I got the car home I clay bared it, used Zymol HD cleanse, then used Zymol Japon wax. The paint is really nice.

Since I do not have 50 posts yet I can't officially post in the for sale forum. Please spread the word around about my car.

You gotta realize that no one in their right minds would buy a used car priced at a new cars value. For me personally, it would have to be a significant difference to consider a used car.

But without their "right minds" many people will still not even realize they can go get a new tC for $17k. There will be a lot of "oooh, what is that?" or "hey, i like that one!" when it's on a general used car lot. Not many will think to actually go look it up and say "wait a second..." Though there will obviously be some that do. I just don't think the general public knows of their value yet.

Well here is my reasoning on the prices. There is still a good wait when you order one you might not want to wait for one. Not all tC cost the same. Yes you can buy a manual tC for just under $17k but then add air bags, etc. So I guess it is a sellers market at this point. I guess $17k obo for mine would be more realistic. If you search autotrader I am still below peoples asking prices. You also do not have all the fees and higher taxes associated with buying a new car from a dealer when you buy a private party car.

All valid points however I think most non-retarded people nowadays will do some research before spending so much money on a car. It is a pretty big investment afterall. And if someone buys a used car for a new cars priced, then they are just dumb and deserved to get ripped off.

I would test the waters first and set the price high, then just lower it if no one takes the bait. I'd be perfectly happy if someone took my car for 15K. My sticker was 18.5K just 10 months ago. With tax and fees, it came out to 20K.

It's amazing the premium value that not having to wait 6 weeks for the car has.

Some people will happily drop new car money for immediate delivery of a 1 year car with 2 years left on the warrenty.

I wouldn't.

But I'm old, stubborn, mean spirited and tight with my money.

I guess it all depends on the location that you are selling. CT has tons of tCs now, so I dont think I can play that card.

im not surprised at the average market value for used tC's

the tC's value now, new or used, is extremely high. dealers have trouble just keeping the cars on lot. its a seller's market right now.
