damn these salesmen!!!!
Scion Customer Experience tracks the data pretty closely. As of August 2005, top of the complaint list at 20.6%: Dealer Personnel. Problems with "Delivery" came in a distant second at 12.9%.
So if there's an issue, 1 out of 5, it's a person (or persons) at fault. If you look at the numbers nationally, with Toyota or with other brands, it's anywhere from 1 in 4 to 1 in 3.
Meaning, up to 35% or so of customers will go out of their way NOT to buy from this salesman or that dealership because of how they were treated, period. About the same number, if not more, WILL buy because how they were treated.
Lesson: treat 'em right. Duh.

My experience has been that the salesmen aren't the worst in this kind of problem - usually its the service people when you're getting repairs. If you're young, you must be clueless, if you you're a woman, you're probably clueless, if you look like you make a lot of money (and thus would never stoop to turning your own wrenches) you must be clueless.
I've found that without exception I know more about cars than any of the service writers... I can only hope the actual mechanics and technicians know what they're doing.
I guess what I'm saying is that when a salesman doesn't treat you right, it's his loss, but when the service people don't treat you right, its your loss, and to me that's much more serious.
I dealt with internet sales and my salesperson was literally one of the best car buying experiences, and I've had my share of _______ dealers, she said with internet sales the dealer is not as assanign about judging people and they don't jam things down your throat.
I had the worst experience at first with my dealership. 1st off I drove up in my previous car...2001 Ford Explorer Limited, get out and walk into the dealership, at this point im only 19, looking for something a little more economical. I start looking at the Scions. They had a xA and a xB in the showroom. After about a half hour of me looking at the cars, with about 10 salesguys watching me to see if im going to steal it or something, one guy walks up to me and asks are you looking to buy a car today. I respond with a possibly, because at this point its up in the air. then i find out this guy cant even sell scions. So he gets the one guy that can and brings him over. We introduce ourselves, and he asks where my parents are? that pushed me over the edge, i went off. i told him that i make more in a year than he probably does...at that time i was making over 40k working for a factory. I told him that when he realizes that the target audience for the cars, are under 25 then we'll discuss buying one, then he asks, what im driving now, i told him a 2001 Ford Explorer Limited, and a 2000 Suzuki GSX-R600. He looked shocked, Then i walked out of the dealership.......then 3 weeks later i go back because i wanted a IIP xA, walk in found out that another guy could sell them. He was a good guy, walked me through everything, and then the guy from before recognized me and tried to claim half the sale...i told him infront of the Scion manager ( whom im good friends with now) that you wouldnt even talk to me and thought i was with my parents and thought i couldnt afford it, so no your not claiming half a sale because you were an a$$. So it was the worst and best experience into one, because the guys i know there are some of the coolest people i know.
commision sales makes people into total loosers, if they are not already one. I know im sure thier are a "few" good car salesmen out thier.........but a few is a generous over statement. It is truely sad when you go to buy a 16,000 car and they are marketed to younger people and you have these leeches asking you financial questions, and pre-judging you when you have not even test driven the car yet.
..........talk about some loosers. but they do it everywhere...... what is funny the salesmen dont do ____ anyways, they just are the tools of the management, all the descions are made in the managment and finace offices, the sales men just take up space. I ignore sales people straight to their face, and if they open thier pie hole, i tell them when i need something ill come and find you, or someone else, go stand over there.......or something.
