Default Dealer Cleaning?

I was just wondering what kind of brand/product the dealer uses to clean/wax our tCs before taking delivery?

That will vary from dealer to dealer. Just get Zaino, it's the best product on the market. It's a little expensive but well worth it...

At mitsubishi they use some wierd carwash solvent. It sortve seems like it has some sort of wax in it, even now the water beads off my car. And most dealerships use a brush to clean your car (not a good thing), so I would rather take it as it came..without the complementary carwash

I dunno, but I really, really didn't like what I saw when I was at my dealer... I was about to tell them NOT to touch my car, but I said ah what the heck, they can't do much more damage than paint swirls which I could get rid of on my own easily - my salesmen walked me down to show me their service department and on the way back we walked past what looked like their garage area and there was a guy just wiping off a brand new car with a rag.... one hell of a nasty looking rag... non-schelantly wiping the bumper of a brand new car with a putrid thing... looked like it was made out of cotton... gave me shivers.... and my salesmen said "hey ron, this is Joe, he just bought a new Scion and here's the key, it's parked over by the showroom and I wanted to have it cleaned up before he took it home" and yada yada I didn't say anything but I should have - I didn't have all my cleaning products from www.autopia.org yet so I just let it go....

well, my car came out, definately wasn't waxed, there was no way - but I couldn't see any noticeable paint damage (micro-marring, swirls, scratches etc) so I just blew it off, took it home and washed, pre-washed, acrylic sealed, waxed, and re-waxed my baby and it's been sporting a showroom shine with minor maintenance ever since

I'd say just buy yourself a bunch of products you'd like to use to make your car pretty and let the dealer do their thing for your car, OR ask what they use and make your own decision

P.S.: Zaino seems like a really gimicky product line, and they have the right steps for the products, and if you follow them you could use ANYTHING and your car would look good if you took the 10 steps to get it that way, I'd say go to auto care sites and learn and make your own decision - Zaino using all these "look at us call our products ZF1 through ZF10 so un-informed people know the *steps* and think they're getting something awesome because we shorten TRADEMARKED words like LOCK to LOK and Ultra-Gard® and exemplify our words like Ultra Super-Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray!!!11 and don't forget to take home our shirt to spread our greed and slap a wicked decal of ours on your pretty car!!" - I mean seriously "blablabla for clear coated car finishes, and blablabla for regular paint" ever heard of a car without a coat of clear-coat? neither have I....

my turn offs are in their FAQ they say to NOT use micro-fiber towels because of quality control (duh, buy a good one like a smart person) and their preferred applicator pad is COTTON - something you're supposed to put pressure against your paint with... might as well just use sandpaper.... There is no ONE do it all product... and there is NO one do it all product line.... period....

You are aware that they've been making cars for many years now, and that base clear was not the norm until about 15 years ago right?
By the way I agree about there being no ONE product or line that did it all.

Yea that was why I was wondering what product they use to clean cars. When I first saw my tC it was shiny and the wheels looked wet. I thought it would last a couple of days, but it lasted for like a week or so. Its raining here in CA , but my car has no streaks or water marks from the rain when its dried(some good wax maybe?). Had the car for about a month now and it still looks clean. btw thanks for all the replies

For the wheels they use a normal tire shine and they spray some protectant spray over it. My tires stay "wet" for over a week with it.

From the swirl marks on my tC, I'd say the dealer used 200 grit.

Wax, go with Auto Magic BC-2 for clearcoats/paint. It's the best stuff by far. Good for surface and discolored headlight assembles :D
