Default Dealer false advertising?

Can a dealer do this? I went to my dealer's website and they were advertising free floor mats for any new or used Scion vehicle. So i went to my dealer to buy my tC and when i showed my car saleman the coupon that i printed online for the free floor mats he said sorry that's not valid for the tC's, only the xA and xB. Later that night i went online and they took down the advertisement for the free mats.

my question... can they do this? it never said it was only for the xA and xB it said any new or used scion. could it be that they noticed they didn't have that much trouble selling the tC's so they decided they didn't need to include the free floor mats anymore?

isn't that false advertising?

thanks

If free floor mats is all it takes to get you to buy a car, dealers so be giving out 2 sets. Reminds me of buying a 3 dollar box of cereal for the 3 cent prize inside.

Check the fine print, I almost guarantee something to the affect of "this offer maybe withdrawn at any time" is in there someplace.

There's ALWAYS a loophole in these special order things. My Mom used to be a lawyer she says its standard proccedure.

The most you can do if complain to the Manager if he wants to keep you as a customer he might give you the deal, that usually what happens. If there was some good reason they withdrew the offer (they ran out of mats, its costing them too much) then hollering about won't do you much good.

Well i paid for my floor mats, and didn't get them. He let me take the mats out of my old car and the ones for my tC are on order. Another customer came in earlier before I bought my tC and wanted to tack them on to his price sticker, so the dealer swiped them from my ride. Kinda inconvenient but the old mats will work for the time being.

Of course. It's not online anymore and you no longer have proof. You should have kept a copy.

If you can get a hold of the original posting and have it printed then the dealer has to abide by the ad and give you free matts. Cuz if they don't you can sue them. Also technically they are not supposed to do this so yoiu can contact Scion directly and complain and you will get your matts free that way too.

^Right. Any offer that negates the "pure price", policy is only allowed if it is done across the board, on all the cars they offer. When I tried to haggle a 2004 model down because the 2005s were out, they said they couldn't do that just for me, they'd have to do it for all 2004 models.

They kept the ad I didn't think it would be a problem because it was still posted on their website. i had no idea they would take it down by the time i got home.

i think they might have kept it in my file at the dealership. i guess i'll find out later this week, unless they "lost it", which i wouldn't be surprised.

to try and find it, go to tools internet options and then click on settings (lower right) and then view files. That will bring up everything. Then just look for the site.

this is for IE
