Default Dealer's Letter to Trade In Scion

I received this in the mail yesterday. Has anyone else been contacted to trade in their Scion for a Toyota?

"Liberty Toyota in Colorado Springs, CO is offering a special test-market pricing and financing event. Your status as a Liberty Toyota customer qualifies you for this special event.

Record high gas prices have resulted in an increased demand for quality used Toyota cars and trucks, thus we nee to acquire several quality pre-owned 2005 Toyotas in order to fulfill special vehicle requests. You have been identified as an owner of one of these vehicles and our used car manager has been authorized to buy back your current vehicle at above market prices.

We would like you to exchange your 2005 Scion tC for any new 2007 Toyota. With factory incentives and high trade-in values, we feel confident that with your above average credit you can make this exchange with little or no money down and with a monthly payment that fits your budget."

"little or no money down"......

Let me rephrase that: "maybe a little down. But more than likely you will get rheemed.....badly"

Thats just your dealership trying to get you to buy a new car from them. They are just being "creative" in their way of doing so. Basically everything in the letter is BS, they just want you to come on the lot.

I called my house from my cellphone and talked to my mom for about 15 mins pretending to be a concerned parent about our school system so she wouldnt immediatly hang up on me. funny part was I walked right by her on my phone while she was talking.

I got this today a long with an off for $300 off a new car:

Dear BigBear

I was just reviewing your records and noticed that your Scion has almost 36,000 miles on it.

Are you interested in selling your Scion? If so, there is a strong used car market and we may be able to give you more than you would expect.

Should you choose to purchase another vehicle from B* Toyota, we have many new models to choose from.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Respectfully,
J***
General Manager

and i sent this back
Hello J*
Thank you for the offer, but my Box (xB) is running strong and hard! I'll keep you in mind though when I am looking again. I guess thats the one problem with being a toyota dealership is that toyotas last forever.
Thanks again, have a great day,

That is some good creative-selling at work, people! I feel sympathetic for those that get reeled in.

More than likely, they're successful with this pitch because people are trying to 'keep up with the Smith's' (aka Affluenza).

Standard letter from dealer to drum up sales. When I worked for Nissan we would send them out to every 6 months to customers who had the cars for about 2 years. Their is no special pricing but they are certainly hoping their are "special" customers who take the bait.
