Default Dealership rant, kinda long

Was driving home today and decided to stop by and check out some TC's. I don't even get out the car and all ready have a salesman right there. So I tell him what I am looking for and he immediatly asks me what year is my Supra? Still being polite I tell him 95. He says to me, looking to upgrade to a new Scion? Now my car is completly stock looking, debadged and all. Continues to tell me that since my car is in great shape, that he can get me a great trade in price. I laugh and ask if I can see some TC's. The car is not for trade in or sale. He says sure, tells me to turn it off, I tell him it is on a timer. He says OH, it's a turbo. I'm getting a little annoyed now, Yes, let's go see some cars. We start walking and he goes into this speach about how great Scion's are, and how much better a TC will drive. Now I am annoyed. Asks me what I am looking for, I tell him a daily driver, maybe some upgrades later, something nice. Maybe he thought I was younger than I am. Going to be 30 in 6 mounths. But he tells me that Scions are very sporty cars. I laughed at that again, I tell him I all ready have enough sports cars. So he asks what else I have, Tell him a 88 MR2 Supercharged. Now he laughs, I ask him what's funny about that? Oh nothing, I am very annoyed now. Keeps up with his sales pitch, blah, blah. Find a nice 5 speed white 06, go through a test drive with him. Come back in to the dealership to get a price. So he comes back and tells me that w/ the 5K trade in for my car. I stop him right there, What trade in? There is no trade in. Yeah but, no trade in. So since this deal is all ready blown, I tell him I will trade in the Supra for the 06 and 15K. He's like yeah right. Then let's get to numbers. The final straw is when he asks me what my credit looks like? Hands me the credit app. Gives me the can I even afford another car look. Are you kidding me?? 16 year olds can buy these cars, no offense to anybody. I just walk out then and there. 5 grand for my car, my turbo alone costs that. Which I informed him that I was not even interested in trading in. I am going to call the dealership back tommorow and ask to speak to the sales manager. Maybe I'll still be able to work out a deal. It's kinda up in the air now.

I don't think that would've annoyed me. Instead I would have given him a lesson on the rarity of a Supra and then asked him if he still thought 5K would be reasonable if it was even up for sale.

This is based on a pretty much stock 95 turbo supra...the trade in value...
i would take this back to him and just unload verbally on his butt!

Wow what a guy. Guy should have shown some respect to the Supra. When I was looking for a car I would always just straight up leave when ever I got a guy like that. Vito (SimplyScion) wound up telling me that his dealership had a spec when I posted a topic talking about my dealer expierence and how I was looking for a spec. Anyway, long story short, I checked out a spec at his dealership and wound up buying one from him. Great guy, no bsing around just straight up you get what you want.

Anyway, Def go to a different dealership.

Excuse me, but he's a SALESMAN!!!
Come on, do you live in a cave?
That's his job.
Sell on your own, and go back with financing in hand.
Save time, money, and frustration.

Personally, it sounds like this salesman isn't going to be in the business much longer. I mean offering $5000 for a turbo Supra is insulting, laughing at your other car even more so, and the condescending look he gave you tell me he is a rank amatuer at selling cars. Quite simply, I'd go to another dealership, or if that isn't practical, another salesman.

In my humble opinion.

becareful, never sign papers at the dealer cause i came to find out that if they check your crdeit score, once its been shown to them, your credit score goes down.

Anytime you get a credit score, it lowers your score.
It sucks, but ti's true.
So, when you got to buy cars, get your financing in order first, and don't let dealers run your credit.

I had that same experience almost, went to the dealer, the sales manager for scion at that dealer just went ranting and raving because my co signer's didn't understand his terminology on their credit score, he asked over and over, and got madder every time he said "on a scale of 1 - 10 what is your credit score" when they said 800 he asked again for it on a scale, then refused, outright refused to let me test drive anything, the one car I got to test drive was a 99 intrepid half assed loaded, dash was tore to hell, food and dirty diapers in it, 300k miles, and they wanted 22k for it

Go to a different dealer. I had basically the opposite experience with the first dealership I went to. Walked onto the lot and was standing around looking at the tc's they had out for 20 mins. Sales people walked by and didnt even stop to ask me if I needed any help or had any questions. I left and went to another dealer in town where they were very friendly and answered all of my questions.

the sales guy took you for a "noob" and if i were you I would try another dealer. IMO.

also, i would recommend buying used. You can save 5 grand there and still keep the same amount of millage.

My supervisor calls them salesholes !
Yeah it's takes a certain type of personality to sell stuff. But it sounds like that guy was a ***** and was acting like that on purpose. Sales people and politicians are the same!

Now that I am calmer. I've had good previous expierences with this dealer. That's why I won't bash them. YET I'll call the sales manager tommorow. Since I am a repeat costomer and I am sure he will remember me, or if he isn't there since last year, they can pull up my name. Me and the wife bought her IS300 from them, and before that I bought another MR2. And see if I can deal with him directly. Hopefully there will be a better expierence.

As for pics of the Supra, I'll wait till I get the TC and post pics of the whole family!!
The 88 MK1 MR2, the Supra, the wifes IS300 and a TC.

salesmen dont know crap about cars. all they know is how to fill out paperwork and rip people off on trade-ins.
