Are there any differences between a TRD brand part and the after market version (ie AEM for CAI, vortech for SC, etc)?

 

from what ive seen trd is usually more expensive. but as far as performance i cant say ive seen a significant diff.

 

Yup ADR is right, TRD will rape you in prices. The nice thing about TRD parts is that if you have it installed by dealers you get a warranty and ish. I dont even think TRD makes their own CAI, correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't AEM makes the CAI's for TRD but TRD just brands it?

 

yeah they brand it. but if you go on the Scion.com site, it actually shows the AEM label on it now, so maybe they stopped it for the newer models. also i heard if you get the TRD it comes with a sticker that shows its dealer installed. so iono about the legal portion that the sticker will cover.. but its nothing to worry about if you live outside of CA :/

 

Damn CA... SO both the TRD and AEM are CARB legal huh?

 

i dont think so... at max carb exempt but dont quote me on that. the biggest factor that holds us back is that stupid carbon filter in our airbox. thats why the only intake i know of thats carb legal uses the stock airbox (by k&N)

unless your method of forced induction is using a cosmic black hole (aka. vortex) to creative suction in the intake system....i think u meant to say VorTECH. for future reference.
