The 2AZFE in the Highlander and the 2AXFE in the Camry both use the YZZA1 filter. That's all the info I could find right now.

I just bought a YZZA1; here are the pics...

YZZA1 that you guys recommend...

YZZA2 that two dealers recommend and I installed...

I'm asking my friend in Japan to send me the "original" one (90915-10004) :D

yea man... is there anyone that can get the original? i'd pay a lil more for that since the yzza1 still looks like ____ compared to the one the tC comes with... i paid more for the purolator pure one filter when i had my other cars so i wouldn't mind paying more.

by the way, good thign you posted your oil change! think many of us just got educated to look out for wrong parts since the tC is so new.

When you changed your oil did the oil plug have a magnet and metal shavings on it? Did you notice any metal shavings in the oil you drained out? I am wondering if I should change my oil at 1000 or 3000 miles. I keep hearing about metal shavings.

think the initial break in will have parts smoothing themselves out, hence the shavings. you probably should change the oil at 1000.

There shouldn't be any shavings. If you have shavings in your oil, something is wrong.

How are the Bosch or Mobile 1 oil filters by the way?

They're probably not worth what they cost, but they're good. So are the K&Ns. I'm guessing the TRD filter is similar quality. I will probably stick with OEM filters or maybe the Fram Superguard or whatever their high-end filter is called. Frams in general are very good.

New engines and metal shavings are a fact of life. It does NOT mean there is something wrong... where in the hell did someone hear that. When an engine breaks in the clearances are tight and the parts are not fully matted hence the metal shavings and hence changing oil at 1000 miles plus it's just cheap insurance against having all the chips floating around for that long. Heck if I wasn't changing over to Mobil 1 I would have changed it prior to 1K. If you want it to last why take a chance

there are like 2-3 magnets in toyota oilpans and transmission pans to collect the shavings

the plug itself doesn't do it

In that case, how often do you flush the engine? My Accord gets flushed every 30K miles. The dealer charges $120 for that. Does it worth it?

From my experience of owning 4 cars and each going over 100,000 miles w/o having an engine flush, I would say you are wasting your money. Now, flushing the radiator after so many miles is probably worth it but that is done probably less than 30k miles.

just to defend dino oil, after the first oil change in my IS300 I put in Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 in winter, 10W-30 in summer. after two years of changing oil every 5000 miles like that, one day i started feeling that my car was performing a little better and i was getting better gas mileage. as i was cleaning out my engine bay a few weeks after that, i noticed that during my last trip to the dealer they changed my oil when i told them not to. they used the toyota filter with their regular oil (Lexus didn't use synthetic). after that experience i think the differences between oil is much less than i expected.

on top of that, although that i think that Mobil 1 oil is a great high quality product, my friend who had a 330Ci went against the recommended OEM-BMW Castrol synthetic (BMW uses synthetic)oil and used Mobil 1 instead... for a year after that he had to check and add more oil constantly since his engine was burning up mobil 1. in a pinch one day, he did an oil change with the BMW oil and noticed that he never had to fill it everytime he checked. i think mobil 1 is good for some engines, and not for others... just wanted to say to give some food for thought: don't trust word of mouth and marketing. although the product may be good, it may not be better than another product. use your own judgement.

tucker2930 You might have changed it too soon just hope your rings are fully seated or you may have a problem with oil consumption. :?

In the parts department, don't ask for an oil filter for the TC, ask for it by the part number.

I checked with my parts guy and he said he could order the 90915-10004 filter no problem. It would take 2-3 days and cost $8.90 (give or take a few cents)

I am going for dino but either one should be more than okay as long as you change at appropriate mileage.

Why waste your freebies in the summer? Have them change it for free when the weather is awful.
Haha...because in some places, the summer weather is more extreme than the winter. Such as here.
