Default Do-it-yourself accessorizing?

One of the big selling points of the Scion is that you can pick and chose from a menu of accessories to add on to the car at the dealership, before you drive away with it. This is also how the dealer makes its money, by charging overhead for the parts, plus service/installation. How easy/hard is it to install certain parts if I bought them from a third party vendor (like Conicelli)?

Particularly, I would like to get the auto-adjust mirror, mudguards, and the front strut tie bar. I figure the mirror and the mudguards will probably be easy; all I'd need is a screw driver, some electrical tape and caps, maybe a ratchet set for the mudguards. My main concern is not screwing something up under the hood and causing the car to fall aprt while I'm making a turn or something because of the tie bar.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks[/url]

dude, it should only take about 30 to 40 minutes max to hook up the strut bar, jack up the front end, remove the six bolts(three aside), put the bar on, tighten the nuts and go cruising. Bill

somebody is a little cranky! didnt get enough sleep last night or something, maybe you guys should try being nice to the other board members, as not everyone can be the supreme hierarcy of tc knowledge right away. Im sure at some point you stated things that other people knew. think about it, there is too much flaming in this place lately, if someone says something you think is dumb jsut ignore it. No one is forcing you to read it, no need to be rude.

Thanks for speaking out about this matter, I for one don't want to feel scared of posting here, because some people know more than others and have to point it out. I think the strut brace will be the easiest mod to install, I installed one on my brothers altima and I didn't even yack it up.

sorry, if I flamed somebody, but it is that easy to install a strut bar on an Xb. the tc should not be that much harder. I do agree that there is a little to much flaming, and I will be more careful of my wording. Bill

the tc might be a little harder to do the strut bar because the strut mounts in the engine bay is just barely clears the back of the engine hood. .

I'm curious about the dimming mirror. I didn't see any wires there for it, I'm assuming there's some kind of plug in the hoodliner by the light assembly. Should make for some fun when mine gets here.

If anyone cares, I'm getting the springs, the mirror, floormats, the doorsills, and the b-pillar thing. Maybe the trunk thing too. I budgeted a few bucks for mods, if there's enough left, I may get the sway bar too, and an intake when someone comes out with a good one (or better one than stock).
