Default Question for those who has an Injen CAI

I just got finished installing my 2pc CAI. I took it for a test drive and was kind of disappointed. When you take off, does it feel really slugish until about 2500 RPM's? My does. I just want to see if anybody elses is the same. The setup I have is the 2pc Injen CAI, DC Sports header, and a Blitz axle back exhaust.

I have the same intake, and mine doesn't feel sluggish at all around any RPM, especially 2500. The intake gave me a great low-end power curve, only accenting the high-end gain that my DC Header and DC Exhaust gave me...wierd...did you disconnect your battery to reset the MAF?

I had the battery disconnected the whole time. Right when I punch it, it's like it doesn't want to go, then at about 2000-2500 RPMs it take off. Maybe if I tried disconnecting my battery again do you think that will work?

You reset the ECU...so the ECU has to relearn how you drive...at least that's what I think...?

I heard a tank or 2 of gas will do it right, so let's say that....it takes a while for the ECU to redial it self in...flooring it all the time is worse...you really want to drive normal so the computer can really dial it in.. a good mixture of street and highway driving, and probably a week and then you feel that low end, mind you it's just a 108 horses so don't expect much, but the top end will improve dramatically...I barely could get the car past 105 mph now I get up to 115-117 without the header..

Ok who drives that fast normally? no one...just a test , so that's why you want to drive it normal to break the CAIS in properly and have the ECU adjust the air to fuel mixture for your normal driving habit.

Alright then, you have a drop in power @ low RPMs . You will always have that with the CAI, I have a similar Ingen on mine. Its normal. You are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Your ECU will never readjust itself. (URBAN LEGEND) It drops off the line low RPM power, but just like the other guy stated it gets quite a bit of mid- upper RPM gain. Nothing dramatic but worth it. After all its only 108 h.p. and your most likley puttin mid 80s to 90s to the pavement. Dont ever belive most of the advertised gains on the bolt ons for the scion. with a engine like the xa/xbECONO GAS MISER has even with all intake exaust options combined you are only going to see MABYE 5-8 h.p. if even that. But thats alot for the engine design. I have a Matrix XRS with the full variable timing setup unlike the scions, and the TRD CAI makes everything TRD claims it does, but the XRS is an engine designed for large amounts of air to be sucked in, the scion IS NOT. Ive most of the items you listed and a few xtras. My XB hits about 120 mph flat out yea its faster but to be perfectly honest its really all a waste of $ trying to make it faster. But its still fun and sounds good. IMPORTANT MESSAGE: DONT RACE ANYTHING short of a pocket bike in a straightaway as you will most likley lose, and with a louder exaust it only makes it more humiliating as they know you are trying. The turns are alot more fun if youre set up for it I get around tight turns much faster than in my Matrix. Later, have fun

why are people trying to make that engine faster?

i see it pointless...especcially in the xb...

the tC on the other hand, thats another story...

Was this post really necessary?

You listed about that you have most of the items I have plus a few extras. What do you have done to yours? I know I'll never get it race ready, I'm not looking for that. I just didn't think that I'd lose that much power on the bottom end.

I have the RD2100 Cold Air intake. To me there was a small gain in pull. The xB doesn't have much power so i'm always flooring it everywhere I go.

It's true that the xB may not have much power potential, but some people believe that is the reason for the mod (it needs all the help it can get). Keep in mind, the tc is a Camry engine, why bother with an engine from a grocery getter? :D (J/K)

To all their own, and all for what they own!
