I think the stock Scion Security sucks. BUT, they'll pay up to $500 insurance deductible if you're car is stolen - maybe even broken into (I'd have to check up on that.)

Go get a Hella Twin Supertone Horn. They are 2 times louder than stock and don't cut out if you lay on the horn. Simple plug-n-play and you're good to go. Scares kids (and adults) splendidly!

About changing the sensitivity; how does one go about this? I tried but couldn't get the little black box to open where the adjustment screw is to turn up the sensitivity. (I was afraid I was going to break it.) Does anybody have a link? Thanks.

you dont open that box. you should see a small hole on one side of it with a small circle with an indantation in it that a small flathead screwdriver could go into and turn it all the way to one side. there might even be a mark on the box where it should be. mine had a mark drawn onto it with a white pencil to show where the dealer put it to.

check the install PDF at TRDsparks.com i think it has an illustration of it.

^^I have that PDF already. Thanks though. Since Turkey day is coming up, I might work on this. I need to turn up my sensitivity because when I tap on the window, nothing happens. (That's what they tell you to do in the Scion Security manual.) I was hoping for a real picture of the said black box with a mark on it. What can I say-I'm visual.

well if there was an area that is at THE most unphotographable angle and area of the car, that box is in it.
i have to contort myself in to these horrible positions just to get to the thing with a screwdriver

it took me forever to get that little black box out
i set my system to max sensitivity, and its still pretty mild
i still have to almost pound on my windows to set the alarm off, but it is a bit more sensitive
make sure that when u do put things back together, u read the instructions, because theres a step that can only be done once when you're trying to put the boxes back on their attachment thing
i messed mine up, but its still allright =]

i didn't have to take mine out. actually imma see if i can get a picture....

that was surprisingly easy-

you can see the white marks near the top of the box. you can see the hole inbetween them.
you can stick a small flatehead in there to turn the sensitivity dial. like a screw- right is more sensitive/left is least sensitive. dealers but it around 5/6.

i have mine on max and its plenty sensitive. the quiet clasp from a camera tripod or a tap on the hatch sets it off.

I tried this but there is a bigger black box in front of the smaller one with adjustment screw. Makes it very hard to see what I'm doing. I've tried turning it a couple of times but the sensitivity is still the same. Do I need to set my alarm to the "Passive" setting?

Awesome, that's info I was looking for a while ago but totally forgot about haha! I have the scion security but the glassbreak sensor seems to be anything but present... I want to tap on the window with my key and set off the warning chirp...

k i was having no luck finding this black box, so i was bringing my tc in for other service this morning and added on "increase alarm sensitivity".

they're talking about charging me for this! "an hour of labor is the worst case scenario - only $98" wtf?

they shouldn't charge me for this right? it's an adjustment on a factory installed option at their dealership. i gave them crap when they said that, but i'm gonna have to wait for pick-up to see what they're gonna try to charge.

it might be over by the steering column somewhere.
one of the techs i know told me that they either put it behind the glovebox where mine is or around the same place on the driver side.
