Default Does the Scion TC use special break in oil?

I know my 2003 Honda Civic used break in oil and the manual said do not change the break in oil before 5000 miles. I am wondering if Toyota uses break in oil as well or just regular oil from the factory?

I am wondering when I should get my oil changed for the first time. If it uses special break in oil like my Honda, I will wait until 5000 miles.

I asked my salesman and the service manager this question. They said no, You should just change your oil at a normal interval. However, I am going to change it at about 3000 miles, which is a little earlier then I normally would. Once I switch to synthetic I will change every 5000 miles.

Did you see any metal shavings when you changed your oil?

Interesting, you still have the original motor oil then? Can you compare the consistency with new motor oil?

Yep, the recycle center is about an hour drive; just need to find time to dump it. If you want, i can send you a pint as a sample :D ...will check it tonight!

Follow the owner's manual. Personally, I would change 3-4000 if driving mostly city and 4-5000 if driving mostly highway. This goes for the "initial" oil also.
