Doubting the tC! reason: this forum
yeah i am one of thousands? waiting for the tC to come to my dealership...but reading all these peoples' problems makes me wanna just buy another car...mt friend got a new Si...driving it...it felt very solid and quick....but seriously...any car will be good for me...i come from a beat up 84 sentra so almost anything will feel like a million bucks...everyday i think about getting my deposit back and want to get another car...please i need some encouragement to do so...or some encouragement to be reasured and patient
Man, just look at all the people here who love their tCs and are having no problems, like me. Check out that poll about how much people like their cars. The few that have problems and complaints are, unfortunately, the loudest. And when anybody says "Hey, not everybody is having that problem" they're ignored or called a tC fanboy. Personally, once I drove the tC I knew it was the car for me. It has a warranty, so if anything comes up, major or minor, I know my dealer will fix it. It's a solid car and an unbeatable bargain at this point.
This is the tC's first year in production. There will be kinks to fix, like in almost all new cars. I'd personally wait until next year's model (2006 model?) if I was interested in the tC. The xA/xB's counterparts (ist/bB) have been in the Japanese market for about 2 years... The xA/xB have been in California for about 8 months before I bought my xA. If I give my little sister my xA, I may get a tC later in 2005...of course, I'll keep a close eye on the problems and fixes...
I have noticed, though... The Civic Si is being driven more and more by non-tuners. It's interesting to see...

Don't listen to the whiners~
I got my tC about 2 weeks ago.. and i'm loving it. It's a great buy for the money. Everything ppl are complaining about are minor stuff. Don't let them discourage u. They just don't want everyone to be driving a tC cuz it's bound to be the next civic...everyone will have one by next year.
It's a fast car with alot of torque. It might be abit tight if u're tall...over 6' but if u're shorter than that..it should be a great car to drive.
my tC complaint so far...
1) wish the rear LED stop light could be lit all the way to the ends not just middle.
2) rear quarter panel blind spots (but hey it's a 2 door - wat u expect)
3) wish it came with bigger lip spoiler (but i'm sure there will be aftermarket ones soon)
as you see..it's minor complaints.
Civic Si is a quick car... but personally think it's over priced and not to mention the current design is fugly IMO. look like a FORD Focus sister who was dropped at birth.
To see if you like it ... go for a test drive. Get manual for power and speed..heard the automatic is abit laggy.

ps - is it just me or is the tC's windshield friggin huge?
if you cant take the wait... the only other car that really compares well to the tC is the Mazda 3. only problem is that you would have to haggle the price to get decent options like the tC has.
my sister got a mazda 3 and she absolutely loves it. ive read reviews saying it handles like its on rails.
i have yet to drive it myself but i trust my sister.
personally though, im holding out for the tC. in the coming weeks we will see what happens.
good luck with your decision.

i'm one of the ppl posting kinks and problems.... but let me tell you.. I've not regret getting the tC AT ALL.. i know its a 1st model year car.. there are kinks to be fixed... hell, even older model cars has problems.... if you can wait.. i'd say wait... I was shopping for a car last november.. was planning to get a lexus is300, or rsx.. or a civic for the low gas mileage.. but waited till july and got the tC... man o man Im glad i waited....
I've own my tC for almost a month now... still am smiling when i get in my baby....

I own both a tC and a 2.3S Mazda3. Both in 5 speed. My tC has TRD springs and will have the sway bar as of next week.
The Mazda3 is a great car but to get the same handling performance as the tC they sacrificed ride quality. You feel EVERY little bump in the road. Once you put the TRD springs on the tC it will outhandle the Mazda3 and still ride better. The one thing I like more about the Mazda is the 5 speed. It feels really nice.
Put it this way a mazada 3 feels like crap when riding and you pay nothing for it hardly and the tC costs nothing and then some and feels some much better driving just wait for you tC only a small percentage are having problems but for people like me who have none its the best car ever made.
Seriously, if you listen to 99% of the people on ANY online forum, you'll come to a similar conclusion. People don't usually post unless they have an issue (or, in the case of cybewhatever, no life). I've never owned a car without issues, this is no different, except the issues are usually trivial and cosmetic. Nothing unacceptable for a $17k car - a $30k car, maybe, but for the money, I'll take a little squeek from the sunroof or whatever the problem of the day is.
There's nothing wrong with these cars. I was one of the first to get one, and after a few thousand miles, not one issue that wasn't resolved in 10 minutes myself.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!
Another satisfied owner here. I have no major problems so far. The only minor problem I have sensed may just be a louder-than-usual intake that whistles, which does sorta sound like the aftermarket intake that I put on my old Prelude now that I think about it. I say definitely go for it.
If it helps, I cross-shopped the following competition:
* xA
* xB
* Mazda 3 sedan
* Corolla
* Prius
* Elantra
* Civic
* Focus
* Lancer
* Sentra Spec V
Some of them I threw out based on value, and some my wife threw out for me based on perceived reliability. I test drove the rest and the tC is the clear winner if you prefer/can stand a 2 door hatchback, IMO. I personally really liked the xA and xB, but my wife was scared when we were merging onto the freeway on the test drive (our other car is a Maxima, so <shrug>), so that was that. The Prius was numb and expensive, and the savings in gas would not be enough for me. And the Mazda 3 was just too expensive once I optioned it out to have similar content as the tC.

You should also cross shop a Honda Accord Coupe LX. I have been pricing them and alread have a dealer willing to sell me an auto for $18,559. That's only a grand more then a tC, and a lot nicer (more upscale) car. There are some benefits to being able to haggle a price.
