Just like ppl have said, you have to expect minor problems for a first year car. I am just waiting for the SC to come out then I will purchase my tC, unless I can't wait any longer which could be the deal. I mean the case of the tC might be like when the GS400/300 came out. First year problems were pretty significant. AFter the kinks were worked out, the car is easily known for great toyota/lexus reliability now.

Either wait cause you are scared about some problems you might have, or get a pair and go ahead and get behind the wheel of this great priced car.

Doesn't saying "don't listen to anyone" go against the idea of reading a forum at all?

Do listen, but remember that you are hearing the distilled problems of dozens of owners. You may or may not have these problems, but you will know the common problems to watch for.

This inforrmation is very valuable if your tC is delivered and the "delivery inspection drive" reveals one of the faults (such as the "roof creak") that has been described here.

If you tell the salesman "fix this defect before I will take delivery" you will get _much_ more rapid service than you would if you had taken delivery and brought the car back for warranty service. Problems that hold up sales get top priority!

Forum info is also valuable when dealing with warranty service later on. It's pretty hard for the service manager to feed you a line like "We've never seen this problem before" when you have seen the problem discussed multiple times here. If they see that you know what you are talking about it is less likely that they will try to BS you or convince you that you are the cause of the problem.

hey people, you really need to test drive the car. especially if you're worried about being able to fit in the car comfortably.

Honestly, I can't say. I'm 5" 8" and the car feels just right...and one of my buddy is 5"10" and he said it felt almost tight..but okay. So i'm assuming @ 6' 2" it might be suitable but not overly roomy for someone that tall... I strongly suggest you go sit in a tC at a showroom. Good Luck~

hey explicit..

I'm 6'6.. 245lbs.. and fit fine in the tC.. don't worry about it.. as long as you don't want the seat completely upright, you'll be fine.. and no im not talking ghetto-laying down driving either.. I reclined the seatback a little and was completely comfortable.. I didn't want to get out.. I love those seats!! and unlike my civic.. I didn't have to move the seat back to get out.. there is more room between the top of the seat cushion and the bottom of the steering wheel.. so i don't hit my legs there getting out of the tC

once I got it all adjusted I had enough headroom to move my head back and touch the top of the headrest.. with about 1-2inches to spare.. it's a cozy car inside.. but it's sooo cool.. fits like a glove..

I wish I could try out a tC, but everytime I go there isn't one to try out. I'm glad to hear that other taller people fit in the car. Thanks for answering my question guys.

oh and one more thing.. make sure that the seat height is all the way down.. there is a lever, like a pump on the left side of the driver's seat.. that pulling it up pumps the seat cushion up.. gotta make sure to push it all the way down a couple pumps til it stops.. that helps a lot too..

and you're welcome for the info too.. how long is the wait out there in cali? took a month here in michigan..

They told me a month as well. 15 are supposed to come in next week (I think) and out of the 15, 10 are already sold. So that means there are 5 up for grab. :D I gave the dealer 2 options, an auto silver streak or an auto Indigo Blue. Hopefully they call me to pick up one of the five. I honestly doubt it though, but I can always hope. It's hard being patient.

Hi all! I just got my Tc this past week. All I can say is WOW. I have had a few issues with my car also, but they are all minor. For the price, this car is the best bang for the buck. I love the way it handles and the power the engine has. I cant say enough about this car! I smile everytime I get into it. It soooo rocks. I am 5'10 and I have tons of room in this car. My friend is 6'4 and he finds the roof a bit low on the passanger side, but once he leaned the seat back a bit, he was fine. Just wish you could lower the passanger seat like the driver seat. But hey... cant have everything. I would recommend test driving one if you have doubts. I also test drove the Mazda 3 and I liked it, but it was quite a bit more for it with the same options as the Tc. Plus I like the look of the Tc more... All in what you want....

it would be interesting to see someone import a drivers seat from another country with right side drive. then both sides would have the same adjustablilty. the only problem would probably be finding a seat that looks the same.
if it has the same dimensions, but looks different... all you would probably have to do is remove the cover from the stock seat and cut the holes for the new adjustment ***** or whatever.

all the cars ive driven with the exception of my fathers Chrysler LHS dont have the same adjustability on both sides.

Well this is an update on my situation. Yesterday someone posted how everyone came out on the allocations so I decided to make calls around the SF Bay Area to see if any dealerships had any in stock. Well, one dealership has a Flint Mica in stock and I'm going to ick it up. Even though no one cares I'm just so frickin happy right now. But my biggest worry is if Fremont Toyota will give me back my $500 deposit I put down with them. What does everyone think. Will they give me a hard time and not give back the money? I figure if I put a stop payment on the check, even if they don't give it back they still won't get anything.

they can sue you and win if you stop a payment, and you will pay all court costs
Plus you might get put on teleacheck system and never be approved to right a check again

Luckly I didn't put a stop payment on it then. Well, Fremont Toyota just called me and said that I could come pick up the check. So I got lucky.

Have you checked the forums for the other cars you are considering? Do they have similar complaints? Most mass-produced cars will have issues, that's what the warranty is for. Not saying "You won't have problems", they are saying "We'll fix the problems we know are bound to show up".

I was offered one for $17,000-$17,500 a month ago. Could have bought it but decided to go with a tC. $18,559 isn't that good of a deal unless that price is "out the door".

Well I picked up my car. It drives great and am very happy with it. The bad news is the first place I went to order a car had me wait an hour to get back my deposit check, but less then a minute for them to hand it to me. That really ____ed me off, but in the end I have my new '05 Flint Mica Scion tC. :D
