I think everyone at one point has done that before. I would worry too, but nothing you can do about it now. Im sure it will be alright as long as you dont make a habit of it. I accidently did it a couple of time on my last car of 5 years, and it never had a problem.

It can cause damage to the rotors by overheating them and causing them to warp..... but normally this doesnt happen from one mistake like that...

the tC is equipped with rear non-ventiallated discs, that utilize a drum style e-brake.

so your foot works the pads, but the parking brake handle moves the shoes.

a half mile ain't ____. if you were to cause damage it would not be visible since the pads are not involved. the shoes are in behind where the lugs go for the wheels.

i wouldn't sweat it. if you start to notice vibration problems when braking then maybe give it some thought.

Today i noticed the parking brake light was still lit even though the handle was down. Turns out it wasn't ALL THE WAY down.

mine does that all the time, i let go of the parking brake too quick and it just rests on the first click, but keeps the light on. the first click does barely even move the shoes. if you have it all the way up, your car should drag the back tires. the ebrake catches up way too high though

Lol, I did that once in my cherokee, going up to Baltimore. The brake wasn't on much, not even enuff to through the lite. But it was definitely on because traffic came to a quick halt on 95, and i'm doin like 85. I hit the brakes, and man oh man I almost p*ssed myself!I don't know how long I was driving like that, but it must have been for awhile, cause the rear brakes locked up, traffic is at a stop in front of me, I'm throwing more smoke than a srt4 neon in a burn out contest, and the pedal is sinkin to the floor. The people in my jeep were like "oh f*^k! we're gonna die". Luckily the exit ramp was clear, and so I chucked it into 3rd from 5th, fishtailed like mad, and managed to get it under control enuff until I could downshift it to a stop. I was white as a ghost for the next 30 minutes or so, completely unable to drive at all for the next 30 minutes or so.

anyhow, now, everytime I drive a car, I make *damn* sure that brake is all the way off, lol

Lol, it was still below the first click and the light was on. In my tC it needs to be flat down.

It's obvious that he is just kidding because he typed in all lower case.
