E-85
has anyone though of getting a conversion kit for their tc to run e-85 it allows you to switch between E-85 and regular fuel. the only place to get E-85 i know of if in NY city but its 3 dollars a gallon, and is anyone aware of how it would effect performance?
Ethanol is just another con being run on an unsuspecting public. The reason it's so cheap is because of the government subsidies. It may be cheaper but your gas mileage will be lower as well, causing you to use more. Ethanol based fuels are lower octane, lower volatility, and cooler burning. Performance will suffer accordingly. Avoid it.

ethanol is actually added because it pollutes less and raises octane BUT!!!!! it contains less energy then gasoline. testing showed that a chevy impala that could run on both regular gas and e-85 revealed that when running on e-85, it got 25% fewer MPG then when running on conventional gasoline. so while e-85 is cheaper then gasoline, it isn't 25% cheaper then regular gas, so you actually spend more in the long run at the pump, because while it costs less to fill up your tank, you'll be filling up more often, therefore spending more!
the whole benefit behind e-85 is that it is renewable, and is supposed to reduce dependency on foreign oil except we need tractors that run on diesel made from foreign oil to harvest and ship the crops to be made into ethanol. unless we started making more biodiesel.
strangely enough, after the OPEC oil embargo of the 1970's, Brazil invested alot of money in to ethanol research and today has a fantastic infrastructure for harvesting and refining ethanol and today only depends on 15% foriegn oil! i guess that is because they have been running E-85 or alcool for YEARS!!! so they only use 15% gas in just about everything that isn't diesel powered!
so Brazil outsmarted the US, and lots of oter countries for that matter when it comes to alternative fuel development.

Sort of off subject, but I have been looking into the whole fuel thing for a while. If you get a chance, check out this link. It is amazing. This guy has actually mastered converting water to fuel. AMAZING

E-85 in a tC... gee why dont you just shove a corn cob up your butt for breakfast.... that is the worst idea since Bio Diesel..... unless you want to shell out thousands to convert and make your ride smell like 10 cases of McDonald's french fries.... then be my guest... the fine print in the E85 deal is the mileage sucks... even if youre just using commuting w/ your tC... it's not worth it.

well i'll you something. we own a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with the flex fuel and we used it ONE time and thats it. I was alot cheaper then gas but the gas mileage really does suck. We travel from Paduca Ky to Elizabethtown ky and had to fill back up and its only about 150-200 miles away. I just guess at the mileage. Never use E-85 again.
