Default Early Arrivals?

On Saturday, July 10th I made a trip to Del Scion and finally got up the courage to start the process of buying. I ordered a Silver Streak Mica 5 Speed tC and when I was done with that days work, my salesman told me that it would be 7 to 14 business days until it arrived. You can all imagine my dismay. As a 19 year old college student, I do not have to say that I was impatient as ever for its arrival. My salesman called me a few times within the next few days to get paperwork straight and tease me it seemed. Then, on Friday the 16th of July I received a very vague answering machine message. "I want to talk to you about something Paul, give me a call back here at Del Scion". I ran to the phone and when I got my salesman he told me the good news: "Today we got a Silver Streak Mica, 5 Speed, but it has more than you wanted". "How so?" I replied. "Well it has B-Pillar Appliques, AEM battery tie down, AEM Valve Cover, wheel locks and the security system. Oh yes, it also has the Ground Effects Kit." So I hung up and did the only logical thing, I ran to Del Scion to check it out and bought it and drove it off the lot that day. For those who are inquisitive, I am paying $342 a month for 72 months and I put nothing down. The way I hooked up my insurance, it should be less than $632, well no more than that anyway, every 6 months. I make about $800 a month at work so I should have no problem with this payment method. Once classes start back up in the end of August, we will see how that goes, but I can keep the hours. I am a Early Arrival success story, are there others? Excuse me for wanting to gloat by the way.

I'm curious though if the car you got was actually YOUR car that you ordered (and came with more stuff than you had originally wanted) or was a completely different car? In that case, how did they not know when you first ordered that they had another Silver 5-speed coming in?

Naoki, I was wondering that too. Were they trying to screw me and get more money? I shrugged it off thinking that I got a better can than I ordered so I did not care. But the story they gave me was that another person ordered the tC at these specifications but had to back out for some reason. In any situation, I got a great car in much less time than they quoted me. I can not argue with that.

Wow, what a story! When I was reading that you hung up and did "the only logical thing"... I thought you were going to say that you went there, took your deposit back and _____ed at the dealer for screwing you with the accessories LOL Just more proof that they got us by our *****. If you don't buy it, someone else will... :?

HAHA. True. Do I feel defiled? A little. Does it go away when I drive by a group of people and they all stare? Oh yes!

Well I say stake out the dealer and see if another Silver tC comes onto the lot within the next few days then make them pay for your accessories, uh, or something else to, uh, retailiate... if your original order doesn't/does come in. I confused myself about the whole thing, well you seem happy, so whatever.

But if you do decide to do something dasterdly evil to make them pay for their wrongs, then what you do is get a couple pair of pantyhose or even a thin sock, fill it with yeast, and flush it down the dealers toilets. It will get into the pipes, and wont expand until you are long gone. And oh the trouble it shall cause... I think :?:

My payment went up $28 a month with all these features from the original stock price. In any case, I had no time to wait, I needed a car for work and in a month, school. Bumming a ride became a pain in the a---rea. Also, the wheel locks, and security system means a deduction off my insurance payment. I will not scoff at $28 bucks. Especially when I am getting a free ride through college. YAY Scholarships and intelligence. :D Stockings... hmm.. Yeast.. yes.. yes.. Why don't I just do that anyway.

Aww, come on, what's wrong with that. It's in The Book. The Unwritten Book of the Road. (Jay and Silent Bob reference)

Well considering you don't have to "bum" rides anymore, you were smart enough to get the "dual-purpose" stick shift

I like your style. I used to drive a 77' Ford Truck, Black, Step-side, Wooden Bed. It was stick as well. This thing is sooo much easier to drive it is insane. I used to have resituate myself to get the truck into 4th but none of that with the tC. Not to mention that I do not have to gas up every 3 miles anymore. The stick on the Ford was bigger though... OK anough homo-eroticisms. Joke went to far. Sorry.

Dude....you basically got your pocket picked.

They scammed you the whole way...that is the oldest trick in the book AND we posted a LOOONG thread that talked about this same subject.

Basically you went to the dealer for a cheese burger and a coke and the asked if you wanted it SUPERSIZED and you said yes. So you ended up buying a Big Mac, Fries, Coke, Apple pie, Chicken nuggets and a fillet of Fish.

IT'S CALLED UPSELLING

That's why the dealers have all that stuff put in at the port or they run them into the shop and do it before they put the car on the lot.

Then they get you into the Finance office and tell you "it's only 25 dollars more on your monthly...You can cover that right"?

It's all about underpromising and overdelivering. They promise you a car in 3 weeks, deliver it in 2, and you're a happy camper. They promise you a car in 1 week, deliver in 2, and you're ____ed. Those dealers know how to play with buyers' emotions.

just curious, what did you do for insurance? 632 for 6 months sounds good. what company, and is it your own policy or parents'?
