Default Ebay Intake Pipe with Stock Airbox?

Has anyone put an ebay intake pipe on with a stock airbox. I figure you can take a cut the pipe where the sensor will go so you can use the stock airbox.

I would like to replace the pipe from the throttle body to the stock airbox with a replacement and then only upgrade the stock air filter with a K&N since that will keep me CARB legal.

This is on an 07' so let me know what you think.

what's the point? maybe a .25 gain in hp.. and for sound factor it won't be that good.. and it may be carb legal in your point, but if a cop asks where's your sticker that says it is carb legal?

just get a CAI its to much trouble for nothing. isnt TRD legal? you could spend close to 500 on that if you want gain and something legal. but you should just get a INJEN CAI or whatever you prefer.

besides you live in PA how often is your car gonna be checked by cops?

The only intake that's CARB legal is the K&N plastic box. No CAI/SRI is legal, because none have the carbon filter.

Replacing the pipe between the airbox and the TB is a good idea-- the stock pipe heatsoaks terribly (almost as bad as aluminum CAIs, but not quite) and heatsoak is bad.

basically what i'm looking for is a cleaner engine bay, getting rid of the rubberish tube that has the box hanging on it and keeping the stock box with the HC filter and replacing the paper filter with a k&n.

TRD is not CARB LEGAL, i don't think any intake for the tc is CARB LEGAL yet, that's why the supercharger uses the stock intake box.

a cone filter is much cleaner than the huge stock box, if you want carb legal, stay stock

if you live in pa seriously just get an injen or a K&N one. dont get anything off ebay
also, the cops/inspection place are not gonna care about a CAI

I really really doubt your gonna have any problems in PA, they seem to let all this stuff slide here.

you could add this to your stock intake hose:

it's the Thermo-Tec lace up intake wrap. looks like one of those things a woman in the old west would wear but is does work wonders for heat soak..lol
