Default electric impact wrench

would one that's rated at 345ft lbs of torque be good to take off the strut/shock bolts? pretty sure it would, but i just wanted to make sure...

thanks!

just get a break bar. and 6 point socket. I could not take them off with a 12 points socket. it almost rounded my bolt.

I just did the suspension on my car twice. I was able to break the shock bolts with a normal sized socket wrench and a short cheater. Mine is a 2007 that had never been broken before then. I found it was kinda difficult to get my electric impact onto the bolts, but I don't have any extensions or attachments of any kind for it.

An 18" breaker would be perfect.

I have a DeWalt that is 345 I believe and a SnapOn cordless 18v thats in the 250 range - its like 10 yrs old lol. The snapon will do damn near anything, but for the couple bolts that decide to be a PITA ill break out the big boy I love using electric impacts, you have to have a HUGE air supply (Over 40 gallons with better than 10 cfm) if you plan on using an air impact continuously

Well aren't the tightest bolts spec'd at 177 ft-lbs? I'm sure it would get the job done if it's rated at 345 ft lbs. How are those electrics? I did my install with a socket wrench and breaker bar. I'm gearing to invest in a big compressor and pneumatic impact wrench.

well i've done my suspension twice already and plan to do it a third time to install coils but the two times i did it, i had a compressor and used my air impact wrench which is WAY better imo... i've done some suspension work on friends cars with breaker bars and whatnot so im sure i can break those strut bolts easy... i also wanted to ask if that ft lbs of torque (345) is good to also break that one nut loose that holds the tophat on the strut/shock assembly??

wish i could get a compressor again but i dont got all the money for the one i want so i plan on selling my impact wrench and air ratchet since i have no use for them

I put my S-techs on 3 weeks ago with a electric impact and it was my best friend. I used it for the fronts and rears, and it was a life saver. Breaker bars are old school!!!!

These are simply specs for re-installing at proper torque. Does not mean they will come off with the same amount of effort by the tool.

I know but I couldn't imagine it taking over 250ft-lbs to break loose. And that is with thread-locker on it. I've always gotten away with a breaker bar with a 6pt impact deep-socket.
